The Beers have five children who have all "grown up" with the family dairy operation. Four sons now have their own herds. Conley is flushing the hydrants in an attempt to improve the town's water quality He asks persons who have low pressure or iron in their water to bare with him as he works with the system —o— A TOTAL of 158 wrestlers competed in the Wawasee Junior High Tournament test Saturday with M of them being from the three Lakeland schools. Os the 60 participating. 35 were winners. MR AND Mrs Carl Shearer of Our Town returned last week end from a 15-day vacation to Arizona. Texas.and Alabama Their first destination was Phoenix. Aril., where Mr. Shearer's mother. Ruth Guttenburg. lives. While in phoenix they also visited Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, formerly of the Milford area. Leaving Arizona, they went to El Passo. Texas, to visit Mr. Shearer s sister. Betty Pope From there they went on to Houston. Texas, where in addition to visiting their son. Mark, they went to a rodeo, saw the play. "Camelot" and visited the famous landmark the "Alamo.” The Shearers spent a couple days visiting their daughter. Lydia Snyder, and her family m Riverview, Ala They went on to Birmingham. Ala . to visit Mr and Mrs Gerald Wilson and 0 family $ They arrived home Friday evening after traveling approximately 5.000 miles. -O'MR AND Mrs Wade Mishler of Milford returned Monday. March 2. from a three-month stay at their home m Fort Myers Beach. Fla 6 They enjoyed a relaxing winter vacation of sunshine in their new home, despite the unusual cool weather in January The only thing the Mishlers could think of to have made their vacation any more enjoyable was to have stayed an additional month —o— SEVERAL AML SING conversations occurred during the recent Phon-a-thon membership drive of the Kosciusko County Mental Health Association. Dick Bibler. team leader of volunteers calling from Barth. Inc., reports one young mother called — sounds of small children shouting; a dog loudly barking in the background — who andwered. "Oh yes! I'll be glad to pledge my membership. If things don't quiet down soon I may need help." Arden Ball, director of Camp Mack, responding to a female volunteer s call, courteously expressed his interest and port of the MH A and said he would be happy to join When the * volunteer asked for his correct mailing address, he replied, "r 10 box 3645 " The volunteer, startled by the unusual numbers for the Milford area, hesitated. There was a long, silent pause and Arden asked. “You're serious, aren't you?"
When the volunteer replied affirmatively Arden explained he , thought it was his daughter, who works at Oaklawn Center in Elkhart, "putting him on!” Seriously. She said a good thing for people who want to do something special for lent is to give a couple hours of their free time to help at feeding time at the nursing home. The accident occurred at 1:30 a m on SR 13. four miles north of Pierceton Welling was uninjured vanscolk sentenced Bud Eugene Vanscolk, 30, r I Leesburg, was sentenced to 20 days in the Kosciusko County Jail after being convicted of conversion in Kosciusko County Court Judge James Jarrette sentenced him to 365 days at the Indiana State Farm, suspended 345 days of the sentence and remanded him to the sheriff for the remaining 20 days. He was also fined 6100 plus 645 court costs
