of keys, has orange plastic tag on ’ it and pop machine tag 8:42 — Man reports 14-year-old Mexican male in back yard at Wawasee Heights, they yelled at him and he took off towards Precision Auto 10:03 a m — Subject reports dead doe along shoreline, Ogden Island - 10:53 a.m. — Hook’s Drug Store report lady locked keys in vehicle, requests assistance 10:23 p.m — Woman babysitting reports house filled with smoke February 24 7:43 a m - Syracuse police request the Street DepartmeriPbe advised of large chuckholes on Chicago St next to VFWI 10:01 a m. — Woman reports she found a large golden retriever on Venetian Island, will take to Humane Shelter Police, dispatchers give reports Syracuse Police Chief Robert Houser has relesed activities of the Syracuse police department for the month of January The police department responded to 163 calls and the two vehicles were driven a total of 4.481. miles Officers made 63 courtesy calls and six title checks There were no gun permits issued Syracuse officers assisted in two fire and ambulance calls There were 10 public and three private accident reports made In the 12 property damage accidents 20 vehicles were involved and the damages were set at 34.295 There was one personal injury accident with one vehicle involved The officers assisted the county or state police in 10 accidents A loss of 3120 was reported in two theft reports and the department recovered 3100 of the loss There were three vandalism reports with a total of 3900 loss The officers took one city ordinance complaint, five missing persons, 18 miscellaneous complaints, eight dog complaints and impounded two dogs There were two traffic arrests made, four misdemeanor and felony arrests and one juvenile arrest or probation arrest. The officers issued four warrungs One parking citation was issued Regular officers worked 47 hours overtime and reserve officers worked 49 hours The reserve officers spent 74 hours in service training Dispatchers Report Dispatchers for the Syracuse Police and Fire Departments handled 2,127 phone calls during January There were 1.302 calls taken for the police department w ithin the city limits and 238 calls for the police in the township. The fire department received 170 calls in the city limits and 154 calls in the township Milford received 209 calls through the dispatchers and the Syracuse Street Department received 54 calls There were 787 courtesy calls extended by the dispatchers Draft solid waste management plan available The Wabash Valley Solid Waste District (U’VSWD* has available for review and comment, a draft of the Wabash Valley Solid Waste Management Plan prepared by Howard Needles Tammen and Bergendoff (HNTB). The WVSWD includes the counties of Fulton. Huntington, Kosciusko, Miami and Wabash District representatives are: F. Leroy Crippen (Kewanna), Fulton County; Devon Blackburn (Huntington), Huntington County; Charles Purdum (Syracuse), Kosciusko County; Cotton Stover (Macy), Miami County; and Eugene Schenkel (Andrews), Wabash County. In addition, HNTB has been requested by the district to present findings of the study to the respective county commissioners and councilmen. The following meeting has been scheduled and the public is en i couraged to attend The meeting for Kosciusko County will be at the courthouse. Warsaw, on March 5.
