pieces were already cut and the keyboard was assembled. Hartmann, who made the organ within the past year, assembled it while he was living in New Jersey and then had the organ trucked to his parents home in South Carolina. The organ was at the Hartmann's home for some time prior to being given to the church He spent a lot of time sanding and gluing or screwing the parts together and assembling the circuit boards for the 32 voices available on the organ He said the voices in the organ are interchangeable and he has been able to create new sounds which were not included in the factory instructions There is also an alterable registration which allows the organist to add a different circuit board when desired. The Hartmann family made the decision to donate the organ to the church because the organ was idly sitting in a room in their South Carolina home. Peter Hartmann stated it is not good for an organ not to be played and the family members felt they would

like to see it go to the church. This organ was assembled in New Jersey, sent by truck to South Carolina and then to Lake Wawasee. Rev. David Hyndman stated the organ has more selections and has the basic church organ sounds The other organ in the church was not ideal for church use and the sounds needed were not available on the old organ. Hartmann stated in playing church hymns on the old organ, the organist had to adapt because the organist may run out of keys or foot pa da is without changing the music to that organ. Both men stated the new organ gives a lot more sound and is equipped to play any music which has been written for the organ Rev Hyndman commented church members are thrilled to have received the new organ In addition to the new organ the church also purchased speakers and an amplifier to attach to the organ This was mounted and installed by Sam Colbert, whose wife, Martha, is also a church organist, as is Susan Guard.

Speaking words of wisdom

By G. EDWARD GEANS Minister No one believed it could happen. But it did. A few years ago a severe winter storm swept down upon the northern section of Minnesota. Not that winter storms are unusual in Minnesota, but it happened that this storm came in the fall. Everyone was enjoying the beautiful, unseasonable warm fall weather. Many homes were carelessly neglected. There were no fuel supplies stored away There were no storm windows put in to replace the summetime screens. While everyone knew that winter was coming, the beautiful weather made most everyone a little complacent. Then the climate of things changed The fine weather ended Unexpectedly, the storm hit. Electric wires were broken down, store windows were out. water pipes froze and burst Homes were put into complete darkness and many were without food. Some who were exposed to the elements were lost and froze to death because there was no light to guide them to a place of warmth and safety. It wasn’t as if these people had committed any great sin They had simply grown complacent and careless in making winter preparations because of the pleasant weather they were experiencing There was no

great, grevious wrong committed. They were simply negligent. / This same principle is true in the spiritual realm. All it takes is a little “fair weather” to lull people into spiritual lethargy. Gradually and subtly, many people carelessly neglect their spiritual welfare because of a time of "sunny skies and warm temperatures” in their lives. Things like daily Bible reading, prayer and regular attendance at public worship slowly wane away. It is a well-known principle that spiritually speaking, people thrive more on persecution than on prosperity. If there are ever circumstances that call for a Christian to. "beef up” his spiritual condition and pay close attention to spiritual preparedness, those circumstances are times of ap- * parent well-being and fair skies. Afluence. more than adversity, will dull and destroy the sharp edge of a Christian’s spiritual life Perhaps a severe recession, energy crisis or economic collapse might be the best thing that could happen. These things might be ministers of God’s judgment to quicken our commitment. sharpen our faith and deepen our dependence upon God — things in which we have become grossly negligent Let’s not be caught out in the cold
