Leesburg Blue Blazers? Etna Green Cubs? Where did they all go? Mrs John L Miller, a 1969 graduate of Syracuse High School, did some investigating and came up with the following results: • In 1965 Burket High School was closed and the students went to Mentone, Beaver Dam, Silver Lake. Claypool and Warsaw High Schools. This left 13 teams playing in the sectional until consolidation began to take its toil in the mid-1960s The five teams now playing consist of the following High Schools: Warsaw Tigers — Warsaw, Leesburg. Silver Lake and part of Atwood Rochester Zebras — Rochester and Richland Center Wildcats Tippecanoe Valley Vikings — Mentone. Akron Flyers. Beaver Dam. Talma Tigers and part of Atwood Triton Trojans — Etna Green. Bourbon Comets, Tippecanoe Police Dogs Wawasee - Milford. North Webster and Syracuse Pierceton and Sidney went into the Whitko Consolidation along with South Whitley and Larwill and now play in the Columbia City Sectional. In 1950 there were 766 teams participating in the state tournament This year there are 397 The most teams ever to play in the sectional tournaments was m 1938 when there were 787 teams
