By REV. GLENN BYERS New Salem Church of the Brethren One of the most interesting concepts in the field of art is perspective or viewpoint. The same picture drawn without perspective can be flat and lifeless. The better or stronger the perspective, the better or more meaningful the picture. So it is with life around us. Life can be summed up in three areas: relationship with God. man and things. Performance in these areas is determined by the perspective or viewpoint. The better the viewpoint or perspective. the better and more meaningful the performance. The Apostle Paul talks about this in the second letter to Corinth, Chapter 5 and verses 14 through 17. In this passage, we are told that the great love of God through Jesus Christ sharpens — “constrains” the discernment — “we thus judge”. This discernment or viewpoint sees all humanity in its natural form “dead in trespasses and sins," Ephesians 2:1. Any who are alive are so through faith and belief in Christ who died for them and rose again. Furthermore, they are obliged to “not live to themselves," but for His glory. This is the true Christian viewpoint. When a person who accepts Christ as his only savior appropriates this viewpoint, there is a definite change in his performance. The Apostle Paul puts it like this in verse 16, “wherefore” — consequently, "henceforth” — from this .point

onward, there is a difference in the way that person deals with mankind. Christ and things. People regard other people in many different ways. They tend to respond accordingly, depending on their personal needs, wants and desires They regard nch people, poor people, the race of people, the race of people and moral people. The list could be enlarged. But the Christian with the proper Christian viewpoint regards humanity no longer in this way or “after the flesh" Any human being, regardless of circumstances, is regarded as a soul for whom Christ died. Fellow believers are regarded, among other things, as members of the body of Christ, I Corinthians 12.12 and 13. and heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Romans 8:17 This viewpoint brings forth a completely different performance in the life of the Christian. Before a person assumes the proper Christian Viewpoint. Christ is seen in many ways. He was a good man. He was the most perfect man who ever lived. He was a martyr for a good cause He was the first leader of the church. He was a great teacher. The list could be greatly epanded. Christ is not seen after the flesh. It is obvious that He is seen no longer that w’ay but in some other manner. That manner is after the Spirit of God. Jesus Himself said that when the Holy Spirit came He would not speak of Himself but would teach that which concerned the Son: He would Glorify Christ, John. 16:13-15. The Christian perspective acknowledges Christ according

Rev. Byers is interim pastor
By DEB FOX Rev. Glenn Byers, Warsaw, is currently serving an indefinite term as interim pastor at New Salem Church of the Brethren, Milford. He came to the church in October following the resignation of Rev. Irvin Miller. In addition to his pastorate. Rev. Byers is a counselor at North Webster Junior High School and social studies teacher. He has been at the school for 14 years. Rev. Byers grew up in Johns town, Pa. and attended Grace College and Grace Theological seminary. He received his master’s degree in secondary education from Saint Francis College, Fort Wayne and moved back to Pennsylvania. He graduated from Grace in 1960. In 1966 he moved back to the Warsaw area where he has remained. He stated he was in the ministry for six years full time
to the Spirit. He is very God. He was virgin bom. He is perfect humanity. He is the only savior of the world by His sacrifice on Calvary. He is the resurrected Lord. He is bodily ascended into heaven. He is coming again These are far more important than anything any other viewpoint knows about the sojourn of Christ Jesus upon the earth. It is easy to see that a Christian who performs from this perspective is certainly a standout in our society. This kind of a person will be showing forth the evidences of the Holy Spirit in his life. Against such there is no law. Galations 5:22. 23 This kind of performance is the evidence that in the Christian’s environment takes on a new relationship Before that, everything that was availalbe was used so that he could “live unto himself" or selfishly. But in Christ anything in the environment can be used, or not used, in such away as to bring glory to Christ who died for him and rose T again. “All things are become new”. As a picture without perspective is lifeless and flat, so is life without the proper Christian viewpoint or perspective. This is so because this perspective is that certain something that makes the difference in the way the individual responds to the people and circumstnces around him in the world in which he lives. The performance of a dedicated believer in Christ with the proper Christian viewpoint is one of beauty, meaning and purpose.
