Siegel named temporary head of Ligonier Post

State Police Lt John Siegel of Ligonier has been assigned temporary commander of the state police post in Ligonier Siegel is replacing former F Sgt Robert L Meeks. 47. who was demoted, relieved erf his command and given a five-day-

week and think it worth sharing with our readers: Life (Not a Breakfast Cereal) People are illogical, unreasonable and self-centered — Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives — Do good anyway. If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies — Succeed anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow — Do good anyway Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable — Be honest and frank anyway Big men with big ideas are shot down by small men with small ideas — Think big anyway. People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs — Fight for a few underdogs anyway. What you spend building may be destroyed overnight — Build anyway. People really need help but may attack you if you do help them — Help anyway. Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth — Give the world your best anyway. Work hard to earn a living, then get toyed off at work — Work hard anyway .

suspension by State Police Superintendent John T Shettle Having once served the Ligonier District. Siegel has been tn command of the state police Northern Indiana Toll Road operations. Meeks received a letter from Shettle charging him with operating a state vehicle while intoxicated, negligent destruction of state property and improper supervision of his subordinates He was relieved of his command and demoted from first sergeant to sergeant. The charges stem from an October 24 accident involving a horse-drawn buggy on SR 5 in LaGrange County, south of CR 200S. As he attempted to pass vehicles on the road. Meeks swerved to missed an oncoming horse, but hit the buggy the horse was pulling. No serious injuries resulted. Meeks, who was returning from a golf outing with a fellow officer, said he had been drinking before the accident, but was under the legal limit. The test, administered by another officer, indicated .07 alcohol content while the legal limit is. 10. The demoted commander said he will appeal Shettle's decision to a state police board and may take the matter to court. Meanwhile, he will continue with a sergeant’s rank at the Ligonier Post The trouble with most used cars is just that they have been used.
