and involved a man with whom Haabs estranged wife had been ndingmacar Haab thrust his bare fist through a car window and stabbed the driver's hand with a screwdriver According to Mark Crowder, deputy
prosecuting attorney. Haab hit the driver in the face, jerked him out of the car and stabbed him in the hand David Muir, Haabs attorney, urged Haab be place on probation, because he had no prior felonies and was suffering from great emotional trauma at the t ime of the incident The deputy prosecutor urged Judge Gene Duffin to “look at the facts” Crowder said the defendant had been “out of control' and committed a "very violent act.” noting it was fortunate Haab did not have a gun “If I gave a suspended sentence. it would depreciate the seriousness of the unprovoked attack.” stated Judge Duffin "The reports indicate that, had the man not put up his hand to protect himself, his injury could have been very serious. ” Duffin imposed the five-year prison term and said he would recommend Haab receive treatment to gain control of his temper
