Winter Carnival funds to go to local charity
There were approximately 50 in attendance for the February 5 meeting and carry-in supper of Lakeland Snowmobile Club. Chairmen for the dinner were Wilma Mitchell and Barbara Fiddler Plans were finalized for the Winter Wonderland Carnival held February 14 at North Webster It was reported that a large crowd was to be expected because of the many calls the club has received from all over the state. A* concession booth was sponsored by the Lakeland Club with Wilma j Mitchell as chairman

A Sweetheart Dance was held the evening of February 14 at Camelot Hall All money raised from the Winter Carnival will be donated to a local charity. It was reported that about 25 men participated in the recent outing held at Honor. Mich. A trip for ladies only is being planned A family outing is scheduled for March 7 and 8. Joe Schaeffer and Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Williams were welcomed as new members The next meeting will be held March 9at Camelot Hall Snacks will be served and games will be played for w hite elephant gifts.

Plans were finalized for the February 14 Sweetheart Banquet when Barbee Ladies Christian Service met on February 9 at Barbee Community Church The party will be held at a local restaurant. Lakeland Quilting Club visits Shipshewana area
Several members reported on their recent trip to Shipshewanna and Middlebury during the February 9 meeting of Lakeland Quilting Club. Dinner out was enjoyed and fabrics for quilting were purchased The group met at the home of Norma Moser Juanita Gebhart. Ruth Dunker and Carol Clark took stencil patterns, transfer pencils, carbon paper and other necessary tools to demonstrate the transfer of a stencil to fabric before quilting The use of a new water soluable marking pen was also demonstrated Members selected one of the four demonstrated methods that was best suited to their quilting fabric Different techniques are required for applying the patterns to dark or light material Quilting projects will be continued at the next meeting. Members making pillows will learn the proper method for Two hurt in crash Two Milford residents. Harvey E. Cole, 64. and Gertrude Cole, 61. r L were injured in a one-car crash on SR 15 just south of CR.4O in Elkhart County last week Cole, driver of the car, suffered chest injuries and was admitted to the Goshen Hospital. His wife was treated for glass cuts and released Police said Cole was driving north on the highway when he lost control of his vehicle on an icy curve The car ran off the road, striking a tree Phil Hoy leaves Syracuse UTS Phil Hoy. the former Syracuse United Telephone Systems shop assistant manager, began working in Warsaw’s UTS office on Monday morning. He is a crewmember aboard the Coast Guard cutter Taney, bomported in Portsmouth, Va. He joined the Coast Guard in August 1977 DAVID BROWN Marine Pfc David R Brown, son of Martin J and Marilyn A. Brown, r 1 bat 616-A Leesburg, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. San Diego. Calif. He is a graduate of Wawasee High School and joined the Marine Corps in October 1980 JAMES BROWN Marine Pvt. James B. Brown, son of Marlin J. and Marilyn A. Brown, r 1 box CIS-A Leesburg, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. He is a graduate of Wawasee High School and joned the Marine Corps in October 1980.
