Coach Rhodes: Tigers could win the sectional

By DEB FOX The Warsaw Tigers are expecting to be the favorite in the Triton Sectional and Head Coach Al Rhodes thinks the team rightly should be “If we play w%ll. we should win! ” said the coach. The Tigers are looking forward to the sectional and the coach feels it should be a good tournament. Warsaw is a guard-orientated team and has been successful with that type of play. Strong points for the team are: The Tigers are a good defensive team and the team has been able -to execute well on offense in some of the bigger games Coach Rhodes also commented there is strength in the team’s depth. The one thing Coach Rhodes feels they need is more consistency in their playing There has been no injuries plaguing the team this year, although they have had a couple bouts with the flu bug this season. “I hope that’s over with.” he said. “Our sectional has always been very competitive. In high school basketball on any given night any team can beat the other. We’ve beat all the other teams who are in it. If we go in with the right frame of mind, any team in it could possibly win it/’ stated Rhodes. Top players for the Tigers are Rod Brandenberg who averages 27.3 points per game; Eric Sebo with an average of 11 points per game; Monte Bollinger with 10 points per game; and John Snider is the leading rebounder with eight rebounds per game "I believe that all teams will be tough contenders, will come to play very hard and it should be a fine tournament.” he concluded.
