inadvertenUy left off the name of Jerry Phillips, the junior warder Phillips was not present when the photo was taken. -0WITH THIS week’s mail comes a letter from Mrs. Harry B. Funk of Lebanon, Oreg. She says they are enjoying the warmest winter she can remember in the 36 years of living in Oregon They had snow on December 3 that lasted less than 24 hours and it didn’t even cover the ground. Fog. however, has continued to be a bother there, causing manyaccidents. -O'DALE RINK has been substituting the past several days for route 1 mail carrier Leon Newman. —O'PEOPLE HAVE said that Milford is a sleeping community, in fact, some have said it is a dying community. We disagree and would like to ask the people making those statements to take a drive through the community and the area around it in the early morning hours, say between 6 and 7. On our way to work Mondaymorning we took special note of the area southeast of Milford. Thirty years ago there were few houses on Waubee Lake, only a few summer cabins here and there. Now the entire lake is surrounded by homes New houses, built within the last five to 10 years dot the countryside. And. at an earlymorning hour many lights are on to indicate the households are not sleeping but are awake and preparing for the daylight hours. Many people leave for work long before the sun makes an appearance. We met a school bus on our way to town as the driver started out to begin his route. It reminded this writer of the fact Our Town will soon have a new junior high school under construction. The thought of the old high school being tom down brings a tear to our eyes but as we remember the dimly lit hallways and the condition of the building we know our memories will long outlive the structure At a bam we see a tank truck, making its rounds to pick up milk — milk that will be used for cheese and butter and other milk products as well as cartons of milk which will soon line the grocery shelves. And coming in to town we find the community is waking up and our lights fall on the new community building, something the citizens of Our Tow n can be proud of since it is a community project with many people working there We could go on but we won’t.... we'll just ask that our readers take a look around! Milford is a good community in which to live. Ture. it is not growing by leaps and bounds, but it isn't dying either! —o— WHAT ABOUT this weather' 1 Just when we thought winter might be taming down a bit we get this "interesting snow storm Singrey's vehicle strikes van » A vehicle operated by Chad A.
