Are You Jesus? That able Southern Evangelist, Jimmie Johnson, once told this story. "In a crowded railway station a little ragged lad with a basket of fruit and candy was trying to sell his wares, when he was suddenly knocked down by the rushing crowd anxious to catch the next train. Scores of feet crushed fruit and candy and only one man stopped to help the bay. He tried to salvage as much of the goods as possible and then, tenderly helping the boy to his feet, slipped a good amount of money into his hand to care for the damage. "He too had to hurry for the train, but as he moved quickly toward the door he heard the little fellow calling to him. When he stopped and turned, the lad breathlessly questioned, Hey, Mister! Are you Jesus?’ ’ The man said, "No, what made you think I was Jesus?" '"Well, I was in Sunday School once and they tokhme that JESUS WAS LIKE THAT but I never saw anybody before that would bother about me.’ explained the young salesman." • Sunday School — 9:30 A.M. • Morning Worship Services — 10:30 A.M. SURER Maria Lozano is reminding all residents that water meters must be read by Friday. Persons who are to read their own meters and have not turned in figures by Friday will be fined. -oE. C. Bailey has purchased the Union 76 station and will be taking over the first of the month. It will be good to have E. C. back at the comer of Catherine Street and SR 15. Among those helping him will be sons Terry and Mike and if our guess is correct wife, Mary, and daughters Teresa and Ronda will add a helping hand here and there from time to time too. —o— BILL LITTLE of Our Town attended a life insurance education and training program at Lansing, Mich., last week. The marketing school was sponsored by a Lansing compnay and emphasized personal life insurance planning, business life insurance and other specific insurance services offered by the company. —O'GET THE facts, or the facts will get you. And when you get ’em, get ’em right or they will get you wrong. —o— THOUGHTS OF Thanksgiving fill our mind today as our thoughts turn to tomorrow’s feast of turkey, dressing, cranberries and pumpkin pie. We have so much to be thankful
for in this nation of ours . . . with all her problems, she’s still the greatest land in the world. The Psalmist David wrote. “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands! “Serve the Lord with gladness! “Come into his presence with singing! “Know that the Lord is God! “It is he that made us, and we are his; “We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. “Enter his gates. with thanksgiving, “And his courts with praise! “Give thanks to Him, bless his name! “For the Lord is good; “His steadfast love endures for ever, “And his faithfulness to all generations.” —O'PAUL AND Katherine Kizer, now retired and living at Brooksville. Fla., visited old friends in the Milford area this week. They were in the area several weeks, staying with son Jan and his family at Barbee Lake and daughter Rita (Scott) and her family at Warsaw, and to attend Lizbeth Scott’s wedding to Carl Rensberger at Warsaw. Kizer was formerly Milford’s postmaster. According to both Paul and Kate, they appear to be enjoying their retirement, and Paul continues to perfect his golf game. Hit-And-Run crash at Milford Sunday Milford police officers are continuing their search for a dark four-wheel drive pickup involved in a hit-and-run accident at Milford early Sunday a.m. Rex E. Booher, 23. r 1 Leesburg, told Milford Marshall David Hobbs that he was driving a 1977 Oldsmobile east on the Milford-Syracuse Road at 4 a m. Sunday and attempted to pass the truck.
