Car stolen from Brooks

A car stolen last week from Brooks Auto Sales in Milford was recovered in Fort Wayne resulting in the arrest of two juveniles. Three fires in Syracuse this week Burning trash was the cause of a brush and leaves fire reported to the Syracuse Fire Department on November 22. The fire was reported by Dave Mertz in Kosciusko County. A wood fire also developed at CR 375E, south of Bowser Road on November 23. The Milford Fire Department assisted Syracuse in extinguishing the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown. Dallas Gross reported a possible house fire at CR 950 N off CR 500E on November 25. However, the fire was a small brush fire. ]! A 1980 Ford Granada was stolen from Brooks Auto Sales, owned by Ted Brooks, early Wednesday morning, Nov. 19. The keys to all the cars on the lot were also stolen, but have been recovered. The apprehended juveniles, a 13-year-old Fort Wayne boy and a 16-year-old Wheatfield youth, had run away from the Bashor Boys’ Home in Goshen and allegedly stole a van from the home. They reportedly drove the vehicle to Milford where they experienced engine trouble.

Auto Sales recovered

The pair reportedly abandoned the van in Milford, which was later recovered by Milford Marshal David Hobbs, and broke into Brooks Auto Sales building. After taking the keys to all the cars on the lot, they allegedly stole a 1980 Ford Granada and drove to Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne authorities found the stolen car around noon that same day and while they were checking the vehicle, the boys returned to the auto. Fort Wayne police arrested the youths It is believed the boys had been looking for another vehicle.

The Fort Wayne boy is being held in Allen County at the Wood Youth Center and the Wheatfield boy was transported back to Kosciusko County by County Patrolman Michael Hobbs where he was held at the county jail on burglary and theft charges.
