Dorothy Lower to speak at meeting
Highlighting the monthly meeting of the Genealogy Section of the Kosciusko County Historical Society will be Dorothy M. Lower, head of the historical genealogy department of the Fort Wayne Public Library. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Counting House Bank on SR 15N, Warsaw. A native Hoosier, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French from Western College for Women (now a part of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio) and has a master’s in library science from Indiana University. After several years of experience in the business world, she joined the staff of the Fort Wayne Public Library as a reference librarian. In 1961 she became responsible for setting up and operating the newly-opened genealogy department of the library. From a nucleus of a few hundred titles, the collection has become one of the largest of its kind in the United States. Its holidngs include approximately 125,000 books and 30,000 rolls of microfilm, covering the entire United States and Great Britain (including Canada).
