LIONS CLUB SPEAKER — Mel Blinkenstaff of Chapman Lake, an athletic trainer and coach for 27 years, nine of them with the U.S. Air Force, spoke before the Milford Lions Club at Harper's on his experience in his chosen field. He accompanied a group of American athletes to China several years ago, along with an ABC television crew, including Jim McKay, and trained U.S. athletes for the Olympic games. He told of the sordid “exchange of favors" among officials of Communist countries in Olympic competition. He was accompanied by his wife Mary, and was introduced by member Bill Little. Guests at the meeting included Steve Frantz, Jack Marlette, "Mac" Little and Doug Wolferman. The club's ladies night will be held November 17 at Das Essenhaus near Middlebury, according to Jerry Curry, who was in charge of the Monday night meeting in the absence of president Paul Reith.
