Eva Belle Mock June 9. 1893—Oct. 13.1980 Eva Belle Mock. 87. r 1 Pierceton. died in Goshen Hospital on Monday, Oct. 13. at 7:10 p.m. She was born to Levi and Clara (Catey) Miller near North Webster on June 9. 1893. She was a lifetime resident of the North Webster area. She married Harvey Mock on December 24, 1912. He preceded her in death jn 1977. For many years she owned and operated the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Wilmont and was member of the North Webster Church of God. She is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Melvin (Ireta) Galloway, Kalispell, Mont, and two sons, Warren Mock, r 1 Pierceton and Cloice Mock, Mishawaka. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Blanche) Kuhn, Syracuse, Mrs. Jesse Spencer, Goshen and Mrs. Russell (Inez) Rule, Warsaw. One brother preceded her-in death. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Harris Funeral Home. The funeral will be at the North Webster Church of God on Thursday, Oct. 16, with Rev. Brice Casey officiating. She will be buried at North Webster
cemetery. Caleb McLallin Caleb Mathew McLallin was stillborn on Monday, Oct. 13, at the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. The infant was the son of ■Mr
passed out at Klink’s Grocery. She was transported home by the EMS after visiting the doctor’s office. Blanche Kuhn, 84. 201 East Boston St., Syracuse, had chest pain and was treated by the EMS on October 11. Josephine Bontrager. 44, 71674 CR 133 Syracuse, was injured in an automobile accident on October 12 at SR 13, north of Syracuse at the Elkhart County Line Junction. She received a bump on the head. Her husband advised that he would take her to a hospital for further examination. Kenneth R. Martin, 34, r 3 box 41 Syracuse. Runaway Bay Apartments, was involved in a one car accident, striking his head against the rear view mirror and shattering the windshield. He received a head laceration and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital on October 13. Rod Hann, 21, r 2 box 50 Syracuse, was ill on October 14 and transported to Goshen Hospital. Ernest Spencer, 93. r 3 box 423 Syracuse, needed an ambulance on October 14, at Marineland Gardens. He was weak and transported to Dr. Meyer’s office and then to Goshen Hospital for direct admittance. Milford EMS The Milford Emergency Medical Services answered three calls during the last week. On Thursday two patients at the Loving Care Center were transported to the Goshen Hospital for tests and then returned. The EMS was also called to a home in Leesburg on Thursday. The patient, however, was pronounced dead before they arrived at the scene. A woman as experiencing pain in her left side and nausea on Saturday and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
Gerald Michael and Dianne (Ringler) McLallin, Kendallville. They both survive with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ringler, Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McLallin, Ligonier. The graveside service will be held today (Wednesday), Oct. 15. in the Syracuse cemetery with Rev. John McFarland officiating at 1 p.m. Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. George Rapp Jan. 27,1932 —Oct. 5,1980 Funeral services for Mrs, George (Sara L. Stookey) Rapp, 48, Sacramento. Calif., were held October 8, in the Sacramento Memorial Lawn Mortuary. Mrs. Rapp, who is a sister-in-law of Elmer Rapp, Milford and Miss Rose Rapp, Papakeechie Lake, died Sunday, Oct. 5, in Memorial Hospital, Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. Rapp was born on January 27, 1932, in Warsaw and married George Rapp, December 26, 1951. She was a former resident of Goshen and a graduate of Goshen High School. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Janette and Linda and a son, Douglas, all of Sacramento; her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Glen Stookey, Goshen; and a sister, Mrs. John (Joanne) Hoglund, Potomac, Md. Burial was at Sacramento Memorial Lawn. Oleander Gardens. Margaret Love Oct. 12.1887 —Oct. 7,1980 Mrs. Margaret Love, 92, formerly of 743 West Center St., Warsaw, was buried in the Leesburg cemetery, Friday, Oct. 10, following funeral services at 10:30 a m. that day in the Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw. Mrs. Love died at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday. Oct. 7, in the Alfran Nursing Home, Columbia City. She had been failing in health for one year. She was bom in Van Wert, Ohio, on October 12,1887, to Amos and Mary Boyer. In 1908 she married Alongo Wallace, who died in 1947. She married Wilbur Love in 1957 and he died in 1977. Mrs. Love was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Jolly Mixers Home Demon stration Club. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Thelma) Scholl and Mrs. Charles (Mary) Miller, both of Warsaw; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. AFTERNOON MISHAP — Mrs. Ed (Josephine) Bontrager. 44, 71674 CR 133 Syracuse, observed slow traffic ahead of her on SR 13 north of Syracuse Sunday and began checking the traffic behind her, when she noticed a stopped car ahead. According to Mrs. Bontrager she put on the brakes and went into a skid when she tried to pass the stopped auto on the right hand side. The car went out of control and went into the ditch on the west side of the road striking a small tree. The official police report was unavailable. The mishap occurred at 5:19p.m. Mrs. Bontrager, who received a bump on her head, was taken to Goshen Hospital by her husband. Damage to the Pinto was estimated at S7OO. (Photo by Deb Fox)

Trinity United Methodist Church, officiated. Pauline J. Castello Aug. 29. 1898 — Oct. 2, 1980 Pauline J. Castello. Kokomo. ' sister of Ruth Boyer. Barbee Lake, died October 2 at Saint Josephs Hospital. Kokomo, following an illness of 22 days. She was 82 years old. She was born August 29. 1898 at Miami, the daughter of Frank M. Spencer and Margaret (Cassingham* Spencer. On August 30. 1925. she was married to Frank D. Castello. He preceded her in death on September 1.1965. Other survivors include a nephew. Sam Willman, Leesburg; and four nieces. Mary Lee Willman. Shirley Smith and Jaimee Smith, all of Leesburg and Peggy W illman, Warsaw. Services were held October 4 at Northview Christian Church. Kokomo. Burial was at Galveston. Burt R. Matteson May 20,1885 — Oct. 9, 1980 Burt Ray Matteson, 95. publisher of the Noble .County American for more than half a century, died Thursday. Oct. 9 following a long illness. Matteson was a printerpublisher on the American frontier. He bought the Noble County Democrat in 1922, changed its name to the Noble County American and served as publisher until 1975. He was born May 20, 1885 in a sod house in the Dakota Territory. His father, Nathaniel Matteson, was a horse rancher. Matteson began learning the printing trade at age eight and as a youth worked for the Cody (Wyo.) Enterprise, owned by Buffalo Bill Codv. He went from Cody to Billings, Butte and Dillon, Mont, and then to Hailey, Idaho where he served for three years as superintendent of a daily newspaper. He left Hr.iley when a snowslide killed 32 of his friends. The late publisher worked his way as a journeyman printer through Walla Walla and Spokane, Wash, and across the Canadian border into Alberta and British Columbia. He was promoted from reporter to general manager at Hobes Printing Company in Glasgow, Mont. While in Glasgow, he married Claudia Margaret White in 1918. Mrs. Matteson preceded him in death in 1958. Matteson took over an Albion weekly newspaper in 1922. During World War II he sent the paper free of charge to hundreds

of Noble County servicemen serving abroad. Matteson is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jesse Duckworth of Cerro Gordo. Ill; a son, B. Wray Matteson of Albion; six grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren. Fred E. Stookey May 28, 1897 — Oct. 9. 1980 Fred Earl Stookey. 83. 118 Van Buren St., Leesburg, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Thursday. Oct. 9. at 9 a m in his home. He was a retired railway mail clerk and farmer. He was born on May 28. 1897. to Milan and Minnie (Giant* Stookey. in Kosciusko County He was a lifetime resident of the area. On May 14.1921. he married the former Leora Martin. She survives. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of John C. Peterson Post 49, American Legion at Warsaw; the Lakeland Community Church; and a 50year member of the Leesburg Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his widow, other survivors include, three sons.
