PONg^S/--MINTERS Helpful Hints For Getting The Best Results
If your home is like many, mildew can be a growing problem on painted surfaces. In warm areas with high humidity, mildew growth can be particularly acute on house exteriors. Fortunately, there are some things you can do about mildew. Before starting to paint your home, it is first essential that all mildew be removed. Here’s how to identify and remove it. Mildew and dirt look very much alike. But, mildew grows in colonies of dark brown “splotches,” and close inspection will tell you that it is a fibrous organic growth. Remove it by washing with a solution of about two ounces of household detergent and two cups of chlorine bleach added 'to one gallon of water. Scrub vigorously to remove heavy mildew growth, then rinse thoroughly with clean water — preferably from a hose. Cleaned surfaces should be painted as soon as they are completely dry to guard against a recurrence of the growth. And for maximum protection against mildew always use a mildew-resistant paint such as Devoe Regency House, an exterior acrylic

The proper paint can do more than make your house look pretty —it can help protect it against mildew. latex house and trim paint which contains ingredients that retard mildew growth on the paint surface. It will preserve the good looks of your home longer. The Devoe people point out, however, that even a mildew-resistant paint must be applied to a completely clean, dry surface to perform properly. Brushing up When the brush you use to scrub fruits and vegetables wears out, don’t buy a new one. Use the mesh bag onions come in, slipping it over your hand like a glove. Tough eggs?
