According to her son, Maurice, Mrs. Beer’s hip has been set and “is doing just fine.” They do not know when she will be released. Derek weighed eight pounds, 16 ounces and measures 19 and onehalf inches long. This is the Custers’ first child. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Edgar, Leesburg and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Custer, Milford. Maternal greatgrandmother is Mrs. Kenneth I. Hosier and paternal greatgrandmother is Lillian Custer. Warsaw. THWAITS, Adam Richard Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Sally) Thwaits, Davenport, lowa, announce the birth of their first child, Adam Richard. He was born on August 3, at 5 p.m. at Saint Luke’s Hospital, Davenport, lowa. Adam weighed seven pounds, one ounce and was 204 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Patrick and Dorothy Robinson of Gosfien. Lawrence and Doris Thwaits of Syracuse are the paternal grandparents. Paternal great-grandmother is Mrs. Edna Thwaits. HAMELL, Andrew Douglas Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hamell, P.O. Box 73 Syracuse, announce the birth of their first child, Andrew Douglas. He was born on August 6at 4:50 a.m. in Goshen Hospital. Andrew Douglas weighed nine pounds, 144 ounces and was 194 inches long at birth. Maternal grandparents are Robert and Edith Vance of Ligonier and great-grandmother is Mildred Vance, also of Ligonier. Paternal grandparents are Ralph and Evelyn Hamell of Syracuse. NEWBY, Kalea Ann Mr. and Mrs. Willis Newby, r 1 North Webster, announce the birth of their first child, Kalea Ann. She was born at Kosciusko Community Hospital on August 4 at 10:52 a.m. Kalea weighed six pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches in length. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Reisf of Warsaw are the maternal

■| IMk I I I HI A ■ Charles V. Kerlin July 24. 1891 — Aug. 8, 1980 Charles V. Kerlin, 89, r 2 Milford, died Friday, Aug. 8, at 2:10 am. at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. He had been ill for 14 months following a fractured hip and pneumonia. Kerlin had lived in the Milford area for 24 years, moving here
Card of thanks CARD OF THANKS Our sincere thanks to our friends, neighbors and relatives for their many acts of kindness and their comforting thoughts and prayers during the illness and death of our loved one. The family of George E. Haab Syracuse EMS Woodrow England, 60, Adrian. Mich., was attacked by a dog on August 9. The EMS responded to 300 East Boston where they bandaged him and transported him to Goshen Hospital. Kevin T. Clark, three, 56316 Burr St., Elkhart, fell backward into a fire on August 9. His father. William T. Clark, took the boy to
from Goshen. He was retired from Goshen Stamping and Tool Company. Born July 24, 1891 in Goshen to Daniel and Lydia (Showalter) Kerlin, he married the former Dorothea Groves October 7.1956. He was a member of the First Brethren Church of Milford, Kosciusko Lodge 418 Free and Accepted Masons and Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Evelyn) Martin of North Manchester; two granddaughters; seven greatgrandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Mishler Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Paul Tinkle officiated. Burial was in the M’lford cemetery. Betty L. Miller April 2,1919 —Aug. 6,1980 Betty L. Miller, 61, Milford, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 11 a m. in Goshen Hospital following an Extended illness. She was born at Leavenworth, on April 2, 1919, to William and Fannie (Bird) Walden. On March 5, 1936, she married James Rummel. He died August 16,1950. and on February 22, 1972, she married Arden Miller. He survives. She was a resident of the Milford community for 20 years and was a member of the Milford Christian Church, the Milford American Legion Auxiliary and the Syracuse VFW Auxiliary. Additional survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Georgia) Beechy, Reading, Mich., and Mrs. Clarence (Shirley) Vandermark, Sherwood, Ohio; one son, Sgt. Jim Rummel, Camp Smith Hawaii; one sister, Mrs. Mae Durst, Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Two sisters, two brothers and one son preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug 9, at 10:30 a.m. in the Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. Fred Walls, associate pastor of the Milford Christian Church, officiated and burial was in New Carlisle cemetery, New Carlisle. Memorials may be made to the Milford Christian Church. B William C. Crimmins William C. Crimmins, 72, 1306 Woodland Drive, Marion, died at 9:10 p.m. on August 6. At the time of his death he was at the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, where he was a patient for one week. Crimmins also had a home on North Shore Drive, Syracuse Lake. He was born in Chicago and moved to Marion in 1937. Crimmins was the founder and owner of the former Appliance Manufacturing Co., Van Buren. Before that he was vice president of the former Delta Electric Co., Marion. At the time of his death, Crimmins was Van Buren Realty Corp, president, also serving on First National Bank board of directors, in Marion. He was a former member of the Marion Board of Aviation. Crimmins was a member of the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Meshingomesia Country Club, Mecca Club and the Elk’s Lodge, all of Marion. He was also a member of the Columbia Club, Indianapolis and the Indiana Society of Chicago. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; three daughters, Mrs.

Enchanted Hills. He was transported to Goshen Hospital. Dorothy Cork. 74. Nappanee, was at 72 East Shore Dr ; ve, when she fell on August 10. She was transported to Goshen Hospital by the EMS. Arlie Cox, 53, 601 North Indiana, Syracuse, was suffering from pain in his chest on August 6. The Syracuse EMS responded to SR 13N at 1:23 p.m. Cox was transported to Goshen Hospital. Betty Adams, 53, r 1 box 86 Warsaw, complained of chest pains following an accident on Pickwick Road and US 13 on August 7. She refused treatment by the EMS.

Janiece Crimmins and Mrs. Elizabeth Clark, both of Marion; two brothers, Joseph D. and John P., of Marion: two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Waymire and Berniece Crimmins. both of Orlando. Fla., and seven grandchildren. The funeral was held August 9 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, in Marion, with Rev. Robert Fosselman officiating. The body was cremated with the committal later. Memorials were made to the Indiana Regional Blood Center, Indianapolis. Esther Peterson Jan. 20,1912 —Aug. 11, 1980 Esther E. Peterson, 68, Retired Tiger Apartments, Waraw, died at 6:30 p. m. Monday, Aug. 11, in the Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was the aunt of Greg Smith of North Webster. A lifetime resident of Warsaw, except for 13 years in California, she was bom January 20,1912, in Warsaw to Otis and Blonde (Anderick) Warner. She graduated in 1932 from the Indiana School for the Deaf at Indianapolis. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sisters. Mrs. Raymond (Helen) ’ Smith of Warsaw and Mrs. James (Frances) Kidder of Austin, Texas; the North Webster nephew; and a niece, Ann Kidder, of Los Angeles, Calif. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Chamness Funeral Home at Warsaw. Rev, David Abel will officiate. Following cremation, interment will be in the Oakwood cemetery. Ezra Shock April 27.1889 — Aug. 8,1980 Ezra E. Shock, 91, r 2 Syracuse, died at Strawberry Village, Ligonier, on August 8. He had been in failing health for several years. Shock was born to Henry and Alice (Wise) Shock on April 27, 1889, in Turkey Creek Township. He was a lifetime resident of the area and a local farmer. He married Minnie Stump, who survives, on March 14,1928. Also surviving are one son, Robert, Syracuse; and four grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Zora Hodson, Columbia City. Funeral arrangements were made by Harris Funeral Home. The service was held August 9 at the funeral home with Rev. Chester Reed officiating. The burial followed at North Webster cemetery. Mrs. Raymond Chupp Jan. 15,1908 —Aug. 12,1980 Mrs. Ray (Alma) Chupp, 72, 1440 Third Road, Bremen, sister of Raymond Hochstetler of Milford, died at 4:24 am. Tuesday in the Bremen Community Hospital following a twomonth illness. A native of Nappanee, Mrs. Chupp was born January 15,1908, to Samuel and Anna (Hochstetler) Hochstetler. On November 11, 1945, she married Ray C. Chupp in Nappanee. He died June 23,1973. Mrs. Chupp was a lifetime resident of the area, a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jonas (Amanda) Hochstetler of Bremen and Mrs. Ernest (Mary) Hochstetler of Nappanee; a son, Clarence Chupp of Bremen; 18 grandchildren; and the Milford brother. Two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death. Friends may call at the Chupp residence. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Mrs.

Mark Stock. 23, Englewood, Ohio, dove into four feet of water on August 7. He hit his head on the lake bottom and suffered from neck pain. He was transported by the EMS from Enchanted Hills 13A to Goshen Hospital at 2:22 a.m. At 4:35 p.m., Goshen Hospital requested that the EMS transport Stock to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Eleanor Pepe. 60, 13423 Tonkel Road, Fort Wayne, was transported to Lutheran Hospital after falling at the Oakwood Park Church on Aug. 11. Grace Bostick, 72, 64 Greenhaus Apartments, had chest pain and numbness on Aug. 12. The EMS transported her to Elkhart Hospital. Dorothy Connolly, 65. r 3 box 80, was not feeling well at Pine Terrace Apartments. She was transported to Goshen Hospital on Aug. 12.
Olie Miller residence, r 1 Bremen. Bishop John J. Hochstetler and Bishop Henry' Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in Weldy cemetery. Mishler Funeral Home of Bremen was in charge of arrangements. Arnold Miner Sept. 6, f 916 — Aug. 6,1980 Arnold “Pete” Miner, 63, 707 West Winona Ave., Warsaw, brother to Paul Miner, Milford, died at 4:25 a m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne He had been a patient there for nine weeks A native of Marshall County, he was born on September 6.1916, to Merl and Della (Jordan) Miner. On August 3.1946, he married the former Felda Louise McGlennon. She survives. He was a veteran of World War 11, a member of the Warsaw First Baptist Church; Past Master of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge and Past Patron of the Warsaw Order of Eastern Star and had resided at Atwood prior to moving to Warsaw. He was an employee of Dana Corporation, Syracuse. Additional survivors include one son, Tim, Warsaw; one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Wahnema) Hardin. Warsaw; two grandsons; and two brothers, Harold, Etna Green, Dale, Norfolk, Va. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in the Titus Funeral Home. Dr. Larry Overstreet officiated and burial was in Oakwood cemetery. Masonic memorial rites were conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. in the funeral home. Ople Ganshorn March 17,1898 —Aug. 10, 1980 Ople P. Ganshorn, 82, r 1 Etna Green, died of a heart attack at 10:55 p.m. August 10, at his home. He had been in failing health for the past four weeks.

Bonnie Hann, 37, 1124 S. Huntington, Syracuse, was suffering from pain on Aug. 12. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. Don Slabaugh, 38, r 4 box 38CB. had back pain Aug. 12 at Forrest Drive Wawasee Village. He was transported to Goshen Hospital. Milford EMS Two runs were made by the Milford Emergency Medical Services during the past week. On Thursday, Aug 7. a man suffered groin and back injuries at his home and was transported to the Goshen Hospital Emergency Room. On Friday, Aug. 8. a Milford woman fell at her home and suffered hip injuries. She was transported to the Goshen Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born to Peter D. and Addie Belle (Harmon) in Kosciusko County on March 17. 1898. He was a retired farmer and a bus driver for Etna Green and Triton schools for 28 years. Ganshorn was a lifetime resident of Etna Green and a member of the Millwood Chapel Christian Church. Ganshorn married Emily E. Thomas on April of 1917 and she preceded him in death in February' 1930. His marriage to the former Berniece Douglass, occurred on June 6. 1931. She survives. Surviving in addition to his widow are five sons. Emery. Michigan City. Worth. Elkhart. Max, Syracuse, Eugene, Bremen. Earl. Etna Green; 13 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren. One sister. Mrs. Altha Mae DeFries, of Newaygo. Mich.; two brothers, Harmon, Etna Green and Wilfred, Denton. Texas, also survive. One brother and “three grandchildren preceded him in death. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Deaton Funeral Home with Rev. Warren McCuen officiating. The interment will be at Stony Point cemetery. Friends may call at the Deaton Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday). Donations can be made as memorials to the Milwood Chapel Church or the Heart Fund. Booked on warrant John Charles Haffner, 19, r 4, Syracuse, was booked on a county court warrant for a Class A misdemeanor on conversion. He was released on his own recognizance over the August 8 week end. Haffner, along with a Milford man, was arrested earlier and charged with attempting to steal crushed limestone owned by the Kosciusko County Highway Department on July 16.
