RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL Harold Kaiser, Milford, came home Friday, July 25, from South Bend Memorial Hospital after undergoing open heart surgery. He is getting a long as well as can be expected. Births BAKER, Lucas Tyler Jill and Charles Baker, r 2 box 138 North Webster, announce the birth of their second child, Lucas Tyler. He was born at 10:24 a.m. Thursday, July 24, in the Goshen Hospital. Lucas weighed nine pounds, two ounces and was 20 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Leon and JoAnn White, Syracuse. Paternal grandparents are Gary and Nancy Baker, also of Syracuse. Helen and Harold Baker are the paternal greatgrandparents. Lucas has a 24 year old brother, Nicholas Charles. Schaya Jennifer Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Thomas, r 2 box 105 North Webster announce the birth of their second daughter, Schaya Jennifer, born at 10:12 a m. on July 25 in the Kosciusko Community Hospital. Schaya weighed eight pounds, three ounces and was 214 inches long. She was transported to the intensive Tare unit at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. , Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dester Bell, North Webster. William J. Dean William Jeremy Dean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dean, formerly of Syracuse, now of Orlando, Fla., died Saturday, July 12, in the Florida Sons Hospital, Orlando. He was born earlier in the day. Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, in Orlando. Surviving in addition to the parents are a sister, Helana Michelle; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Robert C. Dean. Syracuse; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Litka, Orlando, Fla.; and greatgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Koher, North Webster and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Babinsky, North Webster. Beulah Hochstetler Jan. 7,1899—Ju1y 25,1980 Mrs. Jesse (Beulah) M. Hochstetler, 81, r 1 Nappanee, stepmother of Mrs, Leroy (Marietta) Slabach, r 2 Milford, died at 4 a m. Friday, July 25, in Bremen Community Hospital. She was borir in Wakarusa on January 7,1899, to Levi and Mary (Motts) Schrock. On December 9, 1967, she married Jesse S. Hochstetler, who died on May 13, 1976. Mrs. Hochstetler retired from a long and active nursing career in 1970. She was a graduate of the first class of the Goshen School of Nursing in 1924 and had served as director of nurses in Greenwich, Conn., for seven years before returning to Goshen College School of Nursing as an instructor. When she retired, she was nursing supervisor of Bremen Community Hospital. She was also a retired employee of Myers Nursing Home, Bremen and LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee. She is survived by a stepson, Stanley Hochstetler, r 3 Goshen; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Richard (Beatrice) Martin, Millersburg; 12 stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Berkey, Goshen. A half brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at the

Perrin, 70486 CR 31 Syracuse, died at 4 a m. Saturday, July 26, in Goshen Hospital. He was born at 2:59 a.m. that day. Surviving in addition to his parents are grandparents Mrs. Ren Clark, Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Perrin, Middlebury and great-grandmother Fern Miller. Georgia. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. on July 28. First Baptist Church minister. Rev. Louis Showers, officiated at services in Violett cemetery. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, was in charge of arrangements. Jeanette Lung Oct. 5,1892 — July 28,1980 Jeanette Lung, 87, died on July 28 at 8 p.m. in Goshen, Hospital. She had been at the hospital since July 23. Mrs. Lung was residing at Fountainview Place in Goshen, although she had lived the majority of her years on r 4 Syracuse in Wawasee Village. She was born in lowa on October 5, 1892, to Mr. and Mrs. Barnhart Rouch: She was married on April 17, 1913, to Merritt E. Lung, who preceded her in death on January 13,1972. Mrs. Lung was a housewife and a member of the Syracuse Church of God. She is survived by three sons, Maurice of Syracuse, Edwin of Williamsport, Pa., and Steven, of Houston, Texas. EMS transported her to Goshen Hospital. William E. Holcomb, 58, r 5 box 198 Syracuse, fell down the steps and was unconscious for several minutes. The EMS placed him on a backboard and used a cerebral collar and transported him to Goshen Hospital on July 27. Walter K. Prochno, Jr., 263 W. Lakeview Drive, Lowell, dislocated his left elbow on July 23. He was wrestling at Wawasee High School at the time. Prochno was transported to Kosciusko Communtiy Hospital. Landon Fiechter, two. r 1 Craigville, was injured July 28 The boy’s father, Dean Fiechter, brought him to the station after he reportedly walked into a bonfire. The first and second degree burns were dressed and Syracuse EMS advised that Landon be taken to Goshen Hospital. Milford EMS A number of calls have been answered by the Milford Emergency Medical Unit during the past week. They follow: A 16-year-old boy complained of numbness in his neck and arms on Thursday, July ?4. He was involved in a water skiing accident earlier in the day and was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital emergency room. An elderly woman fell at her home on Friday, July 25. She declined transportation to the hospital. She fell again on July 26 and was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room. An elderly man was transported from his home to the Goshen Hospital on July 27. Also on July 27 three persons were

A burial will follow at the Oakpark cemetery. Ligonier. Cynthia Galvin Dec. 17.1897-July 26.1980 Funeral services were held this morning (Wednesday) in the Mishler Funeral Home at Milford for Cynthia Bianca Galvin, 82, a former Milford resident. Mrs. Galvin moved to Elkhart six years ago and had been a resident of the Elkhart Health Care Center for the past five years. She died at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. Born in Goshen on December 17, 1897, she was a daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth Ellen (Wyland) Downing. She married Joseph A. Glavin on January 22. 1922. He died on September 22, 1968. The Galvins moved to Milford from Chicago in 1938.

injured in an automobile accident at the intersection of SR 15 and Emeline Street. A 17-year-old Syracuse girl suffered lacerations to the right side of her face and forehead. Two Middlebury residents received minor injuries. A woman complained of soreness on her right hand and leg and the left side of her face. A man suffered a contusion on his right arm and an abrasion on his right leg. All were transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room. A man suffered cuts on his left hand while cutting wood with a chain saw. Saturday, July 26 He was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room A woman living at Camelot Lake became ill on Monday, July--28 and was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room. . -oMany people call the EMS and assume: that everyone knows where everyone else lives since they have lived in the area for many y ears The EMS asks people to please give name, address, telephone number and the reason of the emergency. Give specific directions to the scene, house address and color, closest intersection. any landmarks and if at night have a light on the house. Do not hang up until the person who takes the EMS call knows all information and gives any instructions if necessary. Keep emergency numbers near the phone. Stickers for Milford residents are available through the Milford EMS. The Milford Emergency unit is in need of additional technicians. Interested persons may leave their name and information at the drug store in Milford and will be notified when EMT classes are held in the area.
Surviving are one daughter. Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Hickman of Syracuse; one step-daughter, Mrs. Frank (Betty) Dorgan of Chicago; , one son, Joseph W. Galvin of Elkhart; six grandchildren; and six great-,, grandchildren. One daughter and twin sons are deceased. Rev. Lawrence Bratton of the Elkhart Riverside Church officiated at the 10:30 a m. service and burial was in the Elkhart Prairie Center cemetery near Goshen. Odor killer To avoid the strong cooking odors that come with cooking cabbage or cauliflower, put some walnuts, with shells on, into the pot along with the vegetables. Stain remover To remove a wine stain from washable fabric, soak it in a solution of one quart warm water, l 2 teaspoon liquid detergent and one tablespoon vinegar for 15 minutes. Rinse with water.
