JUNE 29.1966 Mrs. Hubert Cain and daughter Sandra and Mrs. Herman Miller of Milford attended the wedding of their cousin Sunday evening, June 26. when Johnny Reppert and Miss Brenda Compton were married in the Baptist church in Camden, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Mullinix and daughters were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Mullinix and family at Peru for a barbecue supper recently. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Mullinix at Wabash. Mr. and Mrs Wayne Conner and Mrs. Elmer Conner of Washington visited Mr. and Mrs. Pardee Warstler at Leesburg on Sunday. Mrs. Wayne Conner is the former Miss Faith Warstler of this area. Thursday at about 7 p.m. when Earl Warren set the building a fire. Twenty minutes prior to the fire Mr. Warren had been told not to burn the building because of the dry area in town. The old Doty house on old state road 15 is presently being torn* down to improve the looks of the area. The house has been owned by the Doty family for many years. John Houston of Milford recently bought the house and farming area. Milford high school baseball team beat Mentone five to four last Wednesday evening. June 22. at Milford. picnic. They occupied the John DeFries cottage. The boys report a good time. Miss Mary Weybright is assisting in the Brumbaugh home, south of Milford during the threshing and fruit season. Mrs. W. D. Middaugh returned from Chicago Sunday evening, where she had been visiting her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Lawburgh and daughter Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Shaffer. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Davis and Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Brittsan were Winona Lake visitors Sunday afternoon. Lawn mower stolen A Syracuse man. Steve Bartow, r 4 box 100A. reported Saturday. June 28. that his riding lawn mower was taken. Sometime during the night his six horsepower John Deere mower disappeared from the Bartow Apartments front lawn, across from his residence. Warsaw youth charged with check forgery

Charles Stephen Peach, 18. r 1 Warsaw, was booked at Kosciusko County Jail, Friday evening, June 27. on a circuit court warrant for forgery, class C felony. He was later released on SI,OOO bond. Peach is charged with forging a check owned by Gary Gross, r 1 Leesburg and then attempting to cash the check at the Counting House Bank. North Webster, on the afternoon of Friday, June 20. The checkbook was reported stolen on Thursday, June 19. Kosciusko County Police received a call that afternoon from a resident on CR 3qON who reported a man driving a 1973 model brown Ford Maverick, had been observed placing an object beside the road. The resident went over to the article and found a brown tape case, checkbook owned by Gross and two check registers.

Several minutes later a call was placed to the County Sheriff’s Department from a teller at the Counting House Bank. The teller said a man was at the drive-up window attempting to cash a stolen check. The teller questioned the driver who then left the scene. A description of the vehicle and ? license plate number was given to police. The vehicle was later located at the Peach residence by Kosciusko County Police Detective Sgt Stanley Holderman. Trailer stolen At the end of Syracuse SR 13S, Owen Cobbum reported a Sterling tandem trailer stolen from his Waterworld lot on Friday, June 27. The eight-inch trailer wheels are believed to have been stolen during the night. The trailer is valued at S7OO.
