runners are Rosbrugh, a junior who won the regional in the onemile last year and who will be running with Boyer in the one or two mile races. Hunter, a junior, will be switched between the 100, 200 and 400 meter events, while Chase will be competing in the 800 meter events. With a team so young, Minton believes the team will be strong . in the distance events, decent in the sprints and competitive in the weight classes. A tough team to compete against this year will be Warsaw, according to Minton,

Minton said, “After the Seniors to have golf league at Syracuse Men over 60 are invited to join a senior citizens golf league at Maxwelton Golf Club this year. The kick off will be at 8:30 a m on Tuesday, April 22. Golfers will golf 18 holes on Tuesday morning for 20 weeks. Men who are interested in joining the league should plan to attend the opening day event or contact the golf course for more information. Racing on Sundays at New Paris The New Paris Speedway will offer a full card of stock car racing Sunday afternoon featuring limited late model and road runner drivers. Time, trials are at 1:30 on the quarter-mile paved oval with the first of 12 events to follow at 2:30 including two 25-lap features. Gates open at noon. Seventy drivers competed last week end.

Many of the Lakeland Youth Center activities still have room for more participants this spring. Wrestling for grade school children meets Mondays at Syracuse from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m., Tuesdays at Milford and Wednesdays at North Webster. Coach Rich Welborn is the instructor and he teaches basic wrestling skills. The April crafts class will be held Thursday, April 17, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the youth center. Roller skating continues to meet every other Thursday from 3:15-5:45 p.m. The remaining dates for skating are April 10 and 24 and May 1 and 15. Children must furnish their own skates. Each of these activities has a fee; for more information, contact the youth center in the mornings. Championship wrestling matches held at Syracuse
The championship wrestling matches for boys in third, fourth and fifth grades at the Syracuse Elementary School were held in the school gymnasium Tuesday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. Preliminary elimination matches had previously been held at each grade level during the regular physical education Little League registration set in Syracuse Registration for the Syracuse Little League program will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 6-8 p.m.; Thursday, April 17, from 6-8 p.m ; and again on Saturday, April 19, from 9a.m.-12 p.m. in the Syracuse Elementary School. As in past years, the students will be divided into separate leagues. Boys and girls who are now in kindergarten, first and second grades are eligible for the T-ball League. Girls who are now in third, fourth and fifth grades will be placed in the Girls' Minor League. Girls now in the six, seventh and eighth grades will be in the Girls' Major Softball League. _ Boys in grades three arid four will be in the Boys’ Minor League and boys now in grades five and six will be in the Boys' Major League. A fee will be charged to help cover the cost of the program and is payable at the time of registration. Those students wishing to register for the program should contact Jim Garner.
