It happened ... in Milford
14 YEARS AGO. APRIL 6. 1966 Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weisser and sons entertained in their home on Sunday in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Weisser's father, Neal Cory. Those attending were Mrs. Cory. Denny and Dave and Rev. and Mrs. Lee Cory. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Weisser were callers in the afternoon John Jessop observed his fourth birthday Tuesday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. D. Jessop of Milford. His mother served ice cream and cake to John. Billy Baumgartner, Doug Kaiser. Tamara Jessop. Joseph Jessop, Mrs. Helen Funk and Miss Edith Baumgartner all* of Milford. Members of the Milford town board, police chief Ralph Gansert and town attorney John Logue, are working on several ordinances to improve traffic and parking in Milford A freight train ran into and completely destroyed a 1963 model car last Thursday evening The accident occurred on the Baltimore and Ohio tracks at county road 200W about 3 miles northwest of Milford. Milford's speller, Mark Treesh, was runner up in the fifth and sixth grade division of the county spelling contest held Saturday at Warsaw.

24 YEARS AGO. May 3. 1956 Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Miller of Milford attended the wedding of Miss Judy Godshalk and Maurice Neibert, Sunday afternoon. The wedding was held at 3 o’clock in the Oswego Baptist Church. Mr. Neibert is a nephew of Mrs. Miller. The heavy flash flood which hit this area early Saturday evening and lasted most of the night wrought havoc in many areas in the country and did some destruction locally. The Young Peoples class of the Christian Qhurch went to Columbia City Monday night for a skating party. There were 26 young pebple and four adults. Mrs. Delbert Roderick, Mrs. Darrell Orn. Mrs Glennis Stump and Mrs. Randall Dewart provided transportation for the class. John Ahrns, Earl Cooper and A. R. Graff were awarded honorary Chapter Farmer degrees in the Milford Chapter of Future Farmers of America at the Parent and Son banquet held Friday night at the elementary school. They were honored "because of their unceasing interest in the work of the chapter and for the much assistance they have given to many of the FFA projects and activities,” in the words of Charles Mishler. FFA instructor.
Lightning struck the Russell K. Scott home on James Street at about 4 o’clock Sunday morning burning out the motor on their furnace. The Scotts moved to their new home on Friday. 30 YEARS AGO, MAY 4, 1950 The 27th annual meeting of the Milford High School Alumni Association will be held Saturday evening. May 27, in the high school gymnasium. Dinner will be served by Katie Stoller. Following the usual after dinner program “3 Hits and a Miss” will play for dancing. Rev. Ira Long of North Liberty, has purchased the Robert Mullin property on Fourth Street and expects to move here in the near future. After having a sale, Mr. and Mrs. Mullin will move to Elkhart about the middle of the month. The annual spring concert by the Milford high school band and
