Airs. Clark hostess for Sisterhood Mrs. Jack Clark was hostess for the March 25 meeting of Chapter DA of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. The program, .“A Time To Climb And A Time To Descend” was presented by Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Don Scearce. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Dale Allen and the hostess. Theta Sigma hosts tea A tea for prospective members was held March' 24 by Theta Sigma Chapter of Psi lota Xi Sorority. , Becky Rhoades was hostess for the event. There were 20 members and three guests present. A history of the Psi lota Xi Sorority was presented for the three guests.» The program was given by Jean Coverstone. She showed colored slides and told about her recent trip to Italy. Pythian Sisters plan convention North Webster Pythian Sisters met March 24 at the Pythian Hall with 13 members present. It was announced that a convention will be held at North Webster later this spring. Plans were made for a dinner to be served in the basement of the Pythian Hall during the convention. About 75-persons are expected to attend. Following the business session euchre was played. Refreshments were served by Jeanette Bockman and Martha Bockman. ' Rural Neighbors welcome new club member Doris Slaymaker wag welcomed as a new member during the March 26 meeting of Rural Neighbors Extension Homemakers Club. The ladies met at the home of Mrs. Fred Beyers Roll call response was, “What I Do to Cure The Winter Blues. ” Mary Hull gave the cultural

Mrs. Shrull is the former Patty Wallace, foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Willman and former North Webster resident. —o— SIGNS OF spring — Ruth Mickiey’s pussy willows are blooming; this reporter has received a bunch of flower and seed catalogs in the mail; fishermen are now in boats or standing on piers instead of sitting out on the ice, and the high school and college students are headed for Florida this week. All funds raised from the sale of the plants will go to charity. ’the geraniums will be delivered one week before Mother’s Day. A SECOND, “Boat People Family” is being welcomed by North Webster Church of God and has arrived in North Webster. j The Tran family consists of father, mother, four children, and two teenage sisters of the father. They escaped from Viet Nam and spent one year in Bidong Refugee Camp, Malaysia. The Harold Mickleys are their sponsoring family. GRADUATING HIGH school and college seniors will be honored on May 11 at North Webster United Methodist Church. —o— A CARRY-IN dinner is being planned by Senior citizens at North Webster Church of God. Theme for the event is, “Count On Us” and it is scheduled for 12 noon, April 13. The regular Senior Citizens meeting will be held April 9 at the church. MR. AND Mrs. Harry Heche and family spent last week end at Wayland, Mich., where they attended the 40th wedding anniversary celebration of Mrs. Heche’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Calkins of Wayland. 7°— THE‘MUSKRATS have been swimming hurriedly back and forth around the lake shore. They seem most intent as they go about their business. They can be a hazard. Wilbur Rix was in for a surprise when he went strolling along the lake shore. Suddenly the ground gave away above where a muskrat had dug its den. ’Rix found himself standing knee deep in the middle of a muskrat’s home. Nothing was damaged but a bit of lawn by the lake shore and Rix’s disposition. NORTH WEBSTER United Methodist Church Miriam Circle members will meet April 14. THE SINGLES Group is meeting at 7 p.m., each Monday night at North Webster Church of God. MEMBERS OF our county extension homemakers clubs are a busy bunch of ladies. Mrs. Frank (Dot) Kurth of Barbee Lake is this year’s president of the Kosciusko County Clubs. On March 17 a bus load of homemakers attended the Midwest Flower Show at Chicago. Now, two bus loads of ladies are planning to visit the Hush Puppy Shoe Outlet at Grand

A CLEAN-UP Day is scheduled for April 26 at North Webster United Methodist Church. TOM AND Sadie Reynolds just recently returned from a nine week trip to California. Arizona and New Mexico, where they visited with relatives. According to Sadie the weather wasn’t so good but they had a nice time anyhow . High water prevented them from getting to the airport in Phoenix. They were on the opposite side of the river from the airport. Most of the bridges had washed out during the heavy rains. They drove 90 miles south to Tucson and caught a plane from there to Albuquerque, New Mexico. They spent five weeks at San Bernardino, Calif., lone week in Phoenix and one week in Albuquerque. Sadie also noted that if they had come home one day earlier their plane wouldn’t have been able to land at Chicago because of heavy snow. Escapee captured Francisco Moran, 27, of Milford was recaptured Tuesday, March 25, in a Warsaw • apartment house by Warsaw and Kosciusko County Police. Moran escaped Saturday from the South Bend Work Release Center. Maria Loerdes Aguilar, 19, 411 East Lyon St., Warsaw, was also arrested for interfering with police. She was booked at the jail on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol, resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer. City and county police combined forces to search a residence for a fugitive, after obtaining information that the escapee was hiding in a local apartment house. Police arrived at 411 East Lyon St., at approximately 10:40 p.m. The women who opened the,door gave City Patrolman Doug Brumfield and other officers permission to enter the apartment and speak to occupants Officers informed several apartment dwellers they were looking for Moran. When Brumfield asked to “kok around” the woman consented. When searching one room he noticed a closed door and when he started to open the door, the woman reportedly raised her voice and told officers they needed a search warrant. Openinr the door, Brumfield observed Moran attempting to hide in a corner. Moran obeyed Brumfield’s command to stand up and come out. He was handcuffed and escorted to a squad car, but not before two wqmen began yelling at the officers.: Some apartment dwdllers followed the officers to the squad car and when they started to moved" toward the. vehicle they had to be pushed back. Brumfield reported Aguilar was placed under arrest after she yelled names at the officers. She. struggled when she was taken into custody and was forcibly seated in a squad car. SPECIAL FILM FEATURED — “No Sugar Coating” will be the featured film at the meeting of the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association on April 8. Samuel Wentworth will present the film which focuses on how diabetes affects the entire family. Wentworth is a pediatric diabetologist and is the director of diabetic services at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. A discussion of the film will be led by Wentworth. The public is invited to attend the meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Kpseiusko Community Hospital cafeteria. Sugar-free refreshments will be served by the Parent-Youth Committee. Teenager booked for theft of truck Milford Marshal David Hobbs has arrested a Milford teenager in connection with the theft of a 1979 Ford four-wheel drive pickup from the Nelson Beer farm on CR 200E. The vehicle ' was discovered missing at 6:15 a m. Monday and reported to the county sheriff’s department. Hobbs found the missing truck a short distance from the Beer farm, at 250E and 1100 N in a corn field, at 8:15 a.m. The truck was out of gas and approximately S4OO in damages had been done. The youth was picked up around 7 p.m. Monday night. Tires taken from car in Mifford Milford Town Marshal David Hobbs is investigating the theft of . a tire off a vehicle owned by Ross Swihart of 315 North Main Street, \ Milford. The car was jacked up, the tire removed and the car let back down sometime after 11 p.m. March 30. The tire was valued at SIOO. - Senior Citizens to have carry-in ~ on April 13 Members of the Milford Senior Citizens organization will hold a-carry-in at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, in the Milford Fire Station.
