Marvin J. Stutzman April 9,1914 — March 22,1980 Marvin J. Stutzman, 65, r 2 Nappanee, brother of Alvin Stutzman, Milford; Dan Stutzman and Mrs. Alma Stutzman, both of Syracuse, died of complications following surgery in Goshen Hospital at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, March 22. He had been a patient for one month. Stutzman was born in Fairchild, Wis., on April 9, 1914, to David and Ida (Hochstetler) Stutzman. On October 24,1936, he married the former Marie Hochstetler in Albion. She survives. He was a member of the Northwood Chapel Church and was a retired employee of the Selmer Corporation, Elkhart. Additional survivors include twin sons, Donald Lee, New Paris and Ronald Larry, Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; five brothers, Ike, Galveston, Texas, Delbert, Howard and Floyd, all of Plymouth, Eli, Etna Green; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Swift, Mishawaka, Mrs. Alioe Schetzle, Bourbon and Sarah

Stutzman, Etna Green. One brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held* today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. in the Northwood Chapel, north of Nappanee. Rev. Charles Pletcher, Jr., officiated. Burial was in the Smith-Union cemetery. Wright-Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, was in charge of arrangements. Alvin R. Haab Aug. 31,1899 — March 23,1980 Alvin R. (Dutch) Haab, 80, 431 N. Second St., Elkhart, a former Milford resident, died early Sunday morning, March 23, in his home. He was born on August 31,1899, in Claytonville, 111., and on March 4, 1929, he marring the former Bettie Osborne, in LaPorte. He had been owner of Lincoln Barber Shop prior to his retirement in 1965. Surivors include his wife, three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Bowsher, Mrs. Nettie Chatten and Mrs. Edna Polk, all of Elkhart. Funeral services were conducted at 11 am. Tuesday,

Laura Stahley Oct. 15, 1896 —March 21,1980 ■ Mrs. Laura Stahley, 83, mother of Forrest Stahley, Syracuse, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, March 21, in the Lu Ann Nursing Home, Nappanee. She had been a patient at the nursing .home for seven years. She was a Nappanee resident before entering the nursing home. She was born in Goshen on October 15,1896, and on February 7, 1917, she married Willis Edgar Stahley. He died September 5, 1963. Mrs. Stahley was a member of the Nappanee Church of the Brethren, Nappanee Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Berlin Relief Corps 186. Additional survivors include

Mrs. Dewey Jones Feb. 22, 1902— March 20. 1980 Mrs. Ada Jones, 78, r 1 Etna Green, sister of Mrs. Clara Yeager, Syracuse, died Thursday morning, March 20, at 2:09 a m. in South Bend Osteopathic Hospital. She was admitted earlier in the week. Mrs. Jones was born on February 22, 1902, in Delphi and on March 25, 1921, she was married to Dewey Jones. He died October 9,1975.

Stoffer, Syracuse ENTERS HOSPITAL Arch Baumgartner of Milford entered the Elkhart General Hospital this afternoon (Wednesday) for tests, and is expected to be dismissed on Saturday. IMPROVING Ervin Troup, Milford, is improving following a heart attack last Monday, March 17. He was taken out of the intensive care unit at Elkhart Hospital, Sunday, March 23 and placed in room 2006. He will be in the hospital for several weeks. Syracuse EMS The Syracuse Emergency Medical Service answered a number of calls in the Lakeland area during the past week. Fifteen-month-old Brian Dean, 607 S. Main Street, Syracuse, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital on March 19 at 5:53 p.m. after he began convulsing at his home. March 23 after she became ill at 707 Pittsburg, Syracuse, at 8:46 a.m. Two members of the same family, Michelle and Gerin Kunkel, were taken to Goshen Hospital on March 23 at 5:31 p.m. after they wre involved in an automobile accident on Old Road 8 near Marineland Gardens. Diane Clark, 23, 72833 CR 29 Haviland Mobie Home Court, Lot 12, was taken to Goshen Hospital on March 23 after she suffered smoke inhalation at 2:14 a.m. Rhonda Johnson, 19, r 3 box 486, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital yesterday, March 25, at 2:17 p.m. when she was in labor. Milford EMS » A number of calls were received by the Milford Emergency Medical Service unit thus far in the month of March. A Milford resident was transported from the Goshen Hospital to Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw on Wednesday, March 5. A man suffering from a possible gall bladder attack was taken to the Goshen Hospital emergency room on Friday, March 7. A farmer, partially pinned by a farm tractor, was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room on March 7. A 13-year-old girl injured her ankle while vaulting at the Milford Junior High in gymnastics competition and was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room on Tuesday, March 11. On March 13 the Milford unit responded to a call in Syracuse. A man fell at Brock Manufacturing and was trans-, ported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital emergency room on Friday, March 14. A was transported to KCH on March 15 from Dr. Lewises’ office in Leesburg. A Milford girl was transported from her home to the Goshen Hospital emergency room on Sunday, March 16. The EMS responded to a cartrain accident by the Milford Coop on Saturday, March 22. No one was injured. An elderly patient was transported to Goshen Hospital for admittance on order of Dr. Rheinheimer on Monday, March 24. Births SHEARER, Amber Dawn Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Shearer, Orlando, Fla., are the parents of a daughter, Amber Dawn, born Thursday, March 20, at 7:20 a.m. She weighed six pounds, four ounces and measured 19 inches long. Shearer is a former Milford resident. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Evans, Fort Myers, Fla. and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Shearer, Athens, Ga.

North Webster on September 22, 1925. He had lived in North Webster his entire life. Black had been employed for 25 years at Weatherhead and had been on medical leave from the Dana Corporation for more than a year. He was a member of the North Webster Church of God. A veteran of World War 11, Black was a member of the North Webster American Legion and the Iron Horsemen of Goshen. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marlene Black; his mother, Mrs. Lura Black, North Webster; two daughters, Mrs. James (Jan) Rooney, Warsaw, and Francie Black, at home. Other survivors include three step-daughters, Cara, Tammi and Debra Wagoner, all of North Webster; and two sisters, Mrs. John (DeMaris) Schebig, Fort Wayne and Mrs. Fred (Lorena) Boggs, Leesburg. Services were held Monday, March 24, at the North Webster Church of God. Rev. Brice Casey, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was in the North Webster cemetery where the American Legion conducted military gravesiderites.

The infant weighed 10 pounds, nine ounces and was 23 inches long at birth. THE CENTER OF ATTENTION — This young doe received a lot of attention March 24, when it fell through the ice on Waubee Lake. Milford Marshal David Hobbs received a call at 10:30 a.m. from Rev. Howard Kreider, who lives on the south side of Waubee. about the deer. Hobbs and town employee Rodney England, took a boat out on the ! ice and pulled the doe to the shore line. Shortly after she was on dry ground, she was scared by dogs and again took off on the ice. The doe fell through the thin ice several times before she reached the edge of the lake. Music Boosters plan for dinner
The Wawasee High School Music Boosters Club is planning to present “Before the Musical Dinner”, as the group’s spring project for this year. The dinner will be presented on $2,800 damages as car hits Radio Shack An estimated $2,800 damage occurred when a 1972 Chevrolet driven by Todd R. Eyer. r 2 Box 28, Syracuse, struck the Radio Shack, 300 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse, last Tuesday, March 18. Eyer told police that the accelerator in his vehicle stuck causing it to hit the front of the building, pushing in the front of the building and breaking a large window. Damage to the building was estimated at $2,500. Damage to Eyer’s auto was estimated at S3OO.

Junior Moms learn about Special Olympics The Syracuse Junior Mothers met at the home of Jay Hughes recently. President Linda Phillabaum introduced Pat Bartow who gave the program on the Special Olympics. Jo Ann Robinson was welcomed into the club as a new member. Refreshments were served by Wanetta Luttman and Linda Phillabaum. The next meeting will be held April 21 at Jean Wyant’s home.
