Manchester, winner of the Columbia City sectional, has a 16-6 record and defeated previously unbeaten Whitko in the semi-finals of that i tournament. Warriors stopped by Valley Wednesday Last Wednesday the Wawasee Warriors met the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings in the opening game of the Triton sectional and were stopped cold as the Vikings won the victory 44-39 in a deliberately played bailgame. Wawasee had defeated the Vikings during the regular season’s play 54-52 and a close game was predicted by seasoned basketball fans. Tippecanoe Valley was the first to find the net as the Vikings went on top 2-0 after a minute’s play. A short time later Bart Bowser found the opening in the basket and hit two quick ones. Bowser had a hot first quarter and dominated play as he was perfect in four t'rfes from 20 feet out. Wawasee threw up a Might zone defense that neutralized the Vikings underneath. Wawasee was on top 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. Bowser continued to find his mark in the second quarter to keep the Warriors in the game. With 1:32 remaining in the half Valley tied it for the first time at 20-20. Valley went ahead with 59 seconds remaining, however, Jeff Long stole the ball and Bowser tied the game at 22 prior to the end of the half to send the teams into the dressing room in a deadlock. The Warriors were only able to score seven points in the third quarter as they lost the range while Valley hit for 12. This was the deciding factof in the game as both teams hit for 10 points in the final stanza. r. Even though the Warriors were giving 100 per cent, they were outrebounded 36-17. The Warriors had 14 turn overs while the Vikings turned the ball over nine times. Wawasee hit 40 per cent (17 out of 42) while Tippecanoe Valley hit 33 per cent (18 out of 55). Tippecanoe’s Tilden took scoring honors for the night with 18. Bowser was close behind with 17. No other Warriors were in double figures. Utter was the only
