Vera Dressel Word has been received of the death of Vera Dressel, 89, Napoleon, Ohio, a forma 1 Milford resident. She died in the Northcrest Nursing home, Napoleon. She was born in Convoy, Ohio, on May 4,1890, to Albert and Ida (Sangston) Pettit. She was a member of the Milford Sorosis Club and a former member of Kosciusko Chapter 160, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Napoleon. ■ Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Carlton (Gladys) Shull and Mary McBride, both of Lake Worth, Fla., and Mrs. H. Lloyd (IdaL®na) Austermiller, Napoleon; four grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in March 1968; a son, Max, in May 1970; and five brothers. Memorials may be made to the Easter Seal Society. Dewey L. LOCAL STORE HAS NEW OWNERS — Syracuse residents Leah and Bob Curtis, 407 S. Harrison, have purchased Curtis TV and Appliances from Curtis’ uncle, Fred right, of Nappanee. The transaction was completed March 1. According to the new owner, “We felt there was a definite need to make the operation here in Syracuse more responsive to the resident’s needs.” The store will undergo several changes. The name of the store has been changed to Curtis Electronics and it will specialize in quality electronics. Planned in the immediate future is the remodeling of the service area. “Thus,” says the new onwer, “we will be able to provide expert service capabilities to our local customers." The Curitses have lived in the Lakeland community for the past year-and-a half moving from the Chicago suburbs.

Nursing Home. He had been a patient since July 1974. He was born on June 21,1898, in Milford and lived most of his life in Goshen. He was a selfemployed painter and decorator. A veteran of World War I, he was a former member of the Goshen American Legion, VFW and Eagles Lodge. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Milo (Vivian) Holderbaum, Dunlap; a son, Cleo Martin, Sturgis, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Winifred Cripe and Mrs. Wayne (Rosemary) Lantz, both of Goshen; and a brother, Clyde D. Martin, Elkhart. A brother, Arden Martin, preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Rev. Lester Taylor, assistant pastor of First United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Milford cemetery. Emil Stoller Services for Emil Stoller, 82, Paulding, Ohio, father-in-law of Mrs. Millard (Irma Haab) Stoller, formerly of Milford, were held in the Apostolic Christian
Church, Latty, Ohio, on Monday afternoon, March 3. He died on Friday, Feb. 29, in his home. He was a native of Cissna Park, 111., and married the former Anna Lauckhulf of Latty. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons and seven daughters. Wayne Outcelt Nov. 17,1911 — Feb. 26,198® Wayne Outcelt, 68, Dania, Fla., formerly of the North Webster area, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, in his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born in North Webster on November 17, 1911, to Henry and Abigale (Willard) Outcelt. He moved to Florida 12 years ago from Green Bay, Wis. He was an aircraft mechanic and a veteran of World War 11. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Michal (Connie) Phillips, Appleton, Wis.; four grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Ruth Wertenberger, Elkhart; a neice, Mrs. Kay Lowe, Syracuse; and a nephew, DeWitt Mullett, North Webster. Graveside services will be held at the North Webster cemetery at a later date. Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of local arrangements. Howard Weaver April 21,1905—Feb. 27,1980 Howard (Hod) Weaver, 74, Greenhaus Apartment 80 Syracuse, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Goshen Hospital. He died of complications following a four-month illness. = Weaver was a retired equipment operator for Beer and Slabaugh, Nappanee and also was a former letter carrier in Nappanee. He had been a resident of the Milford and Nappanee communities prior to moving to Syracuse. He was born on April 21, 1905, at Nappanee, to Martin and Elizabeth (Baugher) Weaver. On January 27, 1923, he married the former Rosalee Fleck at Saint Joseph, Mich. She survives. A son, Howard LaMar, was killed in actions in the Pacific in 1945. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. in the Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. Rev. Paul Fulp, pastor of the Milford United Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Union Center cemetery, Nappanee. Helen L. Bibler March 18,1904 — March 3,1980 Mrs. Arthur, W. (Helen L.) Bibler, 75, 302 Westgate Ave., Plymouth, mother of Richard A. Bibler, Milford, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, in the Marshall County Parkview Hospital. She had been failing in health for several years.
She was born on March 18,1904, at Argos and had resided at Plymouth most of her life. She was a retired employee of the Ball Shop and the Bosworth Clothing Store in Plymouth. On November 22, 1924, she married Arthur W. Bibler. He survives. Additional survivors include, three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Throckmorton and Miss Eva Nelson, both of Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Johnson Funeral Home, Plymouth. Rev. Kenneth Yingst, pastor of the Church of the Brethren will officiate and burial will be in the New Oakhill cemetery. Roy C. Mort January 9,1894 — March 2,1980 Roy C. Mort, 86, r 2 Pierceton, step-father of Syracuse resident Mrs. Edward (Sharon) Ba tesla, died Sunday, March 2, at 2:10 a.m. in the Mason Health Care Center, Warsaw. In failing health for the past 18 months, he had been admitted to the facility the previous day. Bom in Cass County Michigan on January 9,1894, Mort was the son of George and Ida (Purkey) Mort. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he was a retired farmer. He belonged to the First United Church of Christ, Collamer. His first wife, Roxie Thompson, whom he married January 18, 1912, died in 1968. In November 1968 he married Mabel Maggert; she survives. Also surviving is a duaghter, Mrs. Orlow (Betty) Walgamuth, South Whitley; two sons, Daniel and Joel, Pierceton; 1* grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; one step-son, Max Maggert, New Carlisle, Ohio; and two step-daughters, Mrs. Edward (Sharon) Batesla. Syracuse and Mrs. John (Janis) Turner, Kimmell. Other survivors include six step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Three brothers and one son preceded him in death. Services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. in the Wooster Community Brethren Church with Dr. Norman H. Uphouse officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest cemetery, Pierceton. Frank Anderson March 11.1888 —Feb. 13,1980 Frank E. Anderson, 91, 910 E. Laurel St., Olney, 111., a former Milford resident and business man, died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Olney Care Center, Olney, 111. He had formerly owned the Anderson’s Oil Co., on the comer of Emeline St., and SR 15 in Milford. He was bom in Chicago on March 11, 1888, to Frank E. and Charlotte (Peterson) Anderson. On May 17, 1914, he married the former Lois G. Ackels, in Tipton. She died on May 21,1976. He was the owner of the Anderson and Son Oil Producers in Olney. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, a life time member of the Chicago Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Club in El Paso, Texas and the Olney Elks Lodge. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Thelma Anderson, Olney; a sister, Mrs. Ebbe Freure, Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren, Neal Anderson, Panama City, Fla., and Julia Anderson, Olney; two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a son, F. Ross Anderson. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Summers Funeral Home, Olney. Rev. Philip Gardner officiated and entombment was in the Haven Hill Mausoleum. Memorials can be made to the Olney Central College Foundation.

Maude Hollar Sept 25,1889—March 3,198® Mrs. Maude Hollar, 90, a patient at the LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee, died Monday, March 3, at 5:45 p.m. of complications. She had been a patient at the nursing home since January 9,1979. She was born near Milford on September 25,1889, to David and Matilda (Godshalk) Diesch. On July 9, 1911, she married Enos Hollar. He preceded her in death on June 4,1970. Mrs. Hollar was a member of the Milford Christian Church and lived in the Milford community most of her life. She resided in New Paris for several years. Survivors include five sons, Ernest, Paul and Richard, all of r 2 Milford, Everett, Nappanee and Junior, Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel DeMont and Mrs. Flossie Smith, both of Argos. Two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Friday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. in the Milford Christian Church. Rick Broullette of the Goshen Christian Church will officiate and burial will be in the Milford cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today, (Wednesday) and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. TOWNSHIP PUMPER — The Syracuse Fire Department received delivery of the new township fire pumper, Tuesday. Feb. 26. The truck was driven to Syracuse by a representative of American LaFrance in Elmira, N.Y- The pumper was purchased by Turkey Creek Township for 161,700 from Hoosier Fire Equipment, Valparaiso. The new pumper has a diesel engine, an automatic transmission and is equipped with a 750 gallon tank. The truck also has rear suction, which will better enable the department to use the port-a-tank. The American LaFrance pumper replaces the 1960 township pumper. The new town pumper is expected within the next four to six weeks and will be identical to this pumper with the exception it will be gasoline powered. Fire Chief Kenny Johnson stated the firemen have worked with the pumper and are thus far very happy with it. Shore Drive, Syracuse, will be out of the hospital by this week end according to a family member. He is reportedly doing a lot better, but is still recovering from surgery last Wednesday, Feb. 27. He is in the Goshen hospital. INJURED AT WORK B. G. Vansickle, a NIPSCo employee, slipped off a trencher early Monday afternoon while working and broke his leg just below the knee cap. The mishap occurred on CR 300E, south of CR 1300 N. He will be laid up for eight weeks. Birth GRIFFITH, Erin Marie Mr. and Mrs. Terry Griffith, r 2 box 348 Syracuse, are the parents of their first child, a daughter, Erin Marie, bom at 9:16 a.m. on February 29 in Goshen hospital. Griffith is co-owner of Griffith’s Wawasee Marina. The infant weighed eight pounds, six ounces at birth and was 21 % inches long. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Griffith of Syracuse. Mr. and- Mrs. Charles Hackley of Gary are the maternal grandparents.

God Bless You All, Blanche Kline Syracuse - EMS Syracuse Emergency Medical Service crews answered three calls during the past week. Nancy Ratliff, 46, HaViland Mobile Home Court, Lot 13, was transported to Goshen Hospital at 2:30 p.m., March 3, after she became ill at home. Syracuse EMS was called to the scene of a mishap at 10:45 p.m. March 3. The victim, Phyllis J. Sheets, 52, 1006 Leßoy Ave., Goshen was dead when the EMS arrived. The crew called the Elkhart County Coroner. » Three-year-old Marvin Hostetler, r 4 Syracuse, became ill at home March 4 at 6:26 p.m. after swallowing approximately 33 baby asprin. The mother administered Ipecac on advise of the EMS. The child was not transported. Milford EMS Only two calls were answered by the Milford Emergency Medical Services during the past week. Both were on February 27. The EMS received a call from the sheriff’s department reporting a man injured in a snowmobile accident in Leesburg. He suffered injuries to his left leg and was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital emergency room. Also on that date, a woman passed out while visiting in Milford. She was transported to the Goshen Hospital emergency room.
