unto us a Child is born... RUTH ANGLE has a definition for caroling that we can readily associate with. . It’s a time when a poor singer V can sing as long and loud as he \wishes and people appreciate it! ' —oALONG WITH the renewal for The M-J for Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith of Michigan comes this note from the desk of Richard Smith of Austin. Texas It follows: “We surely enjoy The MailJournal which arrives here in Austin each Monday. Have lived in Texas for some 12 years. John and Nancy Replogle have one to top the mail delivery of Annie and Bud Replogle in last week’s column. The same Florida niece who mailed a card to Aunt Annie and Uncle Bud in Milford mailed a card to Aunt Nancy and Uncle John in Milford and they received the card at their Syracuse address. —o— AREA RESIDENTS who attended the Wawasee High School Christmas concert last Thursday came home with nothing but praise for the program. The night was dedicated to Kay Ferverda of North Webster who lost her life in a recent car-train accident. —o— SOMEONE DID a no. no in last week's Milford Town Board article. Bill Nellans was listed as being with the Nellans-Loop-Oram Insurance Agency. This agency has recently had a name change to First Charter Insurers with offices in Syracuse and Warsaw. —oREMEMBER THE old saying the mail always goes through? Area mail carriers expect to deal with more than their share of snow and sleet and freezing rain this year, but Postmaster H. C. Colwell reminds customers in the Milford area that his carriers will need some assistance during winter months. Rural carriers will make every reasonable effort to serve as many customers as possible during severe winter weather, but Colwell said carriers are not expected to leave their vehicles and provide service on foot w’hen
roads, entire blocks, or other large portions of their routes are impassable. “Rural carriers are expected to leave their vehicles to serve temporarily blocked individual boxes where there is no risk of personal injury or unusual physical exertion,” Colwell said, “but not when access to several mailboxes along a continuous segment of a route is blocked.” Colwell said his office keeps in close contact with traffic and weather advisories to determine if delivery should be suspended on a particular day. and with highway department officials to make sure public roads are passable and in good repair. “We need everyone’s cooperation in keeping approaches to boxes clear of snow and any other obstructions.” Colwell said, “so we can avoid cutting anyone’s mail delivery even temporarily.”
