Lucille Calnon Dec. 29, 1905— Dec. 12, 1979 Death claimed the life of Mrs. Lucille M. Calnon. 73. 718 South Lake Street, Syracuse, this morning, December f 2, at 4:10 a.m. in the Goshen Hospital. Mrs. Calnon had been in failng health for several years. Born in New- Paris on December 29. 1905, she was the daughter of Roy and Lulu (Phend) Conrad. She was married in Saint Patrick's Church in 1923 to Walter Calnon. They had lived in South Bend and Chicago before coming to Syracuse in 1936. Retired from Chore-Time

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Jeanne) Klarecki of Elkhart: three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Harley Conrad of Knapp Lake. The wake wall be held at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 13. and visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home. Milford, sustained a bruised knee after falling while working at The Papers Incorporated. Milford She was taken to Goshen Hospital for x-rays and is recuperating at home BASKETBALL PLAYER INJURED Larry Kammerer, Leesburg, was taken to Goshen Hospital Friday night, Dec. 7, after a freak accident during an independent league basketball practice at the Milford Junior High gym. Kammerer sustained a jammed neck and a laceration to his head. Mrs. Ben Kaiser, Milford, said her son-in-law was put into traction on Saturday and as of Sunday there was some relief from the pain. He also had 11 stitches to close his head laceration. The accident reportedly occurred when he and several other players got tangled up and he lost his balance, running into one of the walls. It is not certain how long he will be in traction. He is in room 245.
Church at 10 a.m Rev. Kenneth Serrazine w ill officiate. Burial will be in the Syracuse cemetery. Philip D. Carper Nov. 4,1899—Dec. 5. 1979 Victim of an apparent heart attack, Philip D. Carper, 80, r 2 Syracuse, died in his home Wednesday. Dec. 5. He had been in failing health for several years. He w as born November 4, 1899, in Champaign, 111. and lived in the Syracuse area since 1943. On October 1, 1921, he married Ruth Titus in Decatur, 111.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Paul Kegebein Births COY. Jeremiah Joseph Mr. and Mrs. David Coy. r 3 Box 616 Syracuse, are the parents of their second child, a son, Jeremiah Joseph. The infant was born at 11:59 p.m. on December 4 in the Goshen Hospital. He weighed six pounds, six-and-one-half ounces, and measured 184 inches long. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fulfurd, r 3 Syracuse, are the maternal grandparents; Mr and Mrs Wayne Coy, r 3 Syracuse, are the paternal grandparents. Maternal great-grandmothers are Mrs. Ganetta Fulfurd of Milford, and Mr. and Mrs. Ruth Sheline of Syracuse.
In addition to his widow, Carper is survived by a son, Beauford and a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Betty Jean) Saalfranki, both of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren: 13 greatgrandchildren; five brothers, Robert, Herbert, Morris and Jessee, all of Chico, Calif., and Jerry of Pennsylvania; and two sisters. Mrs. Oscar (Anna) Geisel of Ossian and Mrs. Thelma Johnson of Utah. Funeral services were held in the Ulery Funeral Home in Ligonier Saturday, Dec. 8. Henry Bontrager officiated. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne. Zella G. Lindzy June 20. 1895 —Decembers. 1979 Mrs. Zella Grace Lindzy, 84, New Paris, died Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3:20 p.m. in the Goshen Hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital Saturday from Place in Goshen where she nad been a resident. Born on June 20,1895, to Lorenza and Lenora Haver Good. Mrs. Lindzy was married on May 10, 1913, to Rockford L. Lindzy. He died on July 24,1968. Among the survivors are three sons, Verl D., Syracuse, Charles H., New Paris, and Keith L., Warsaw; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Naomi) Kelly, of Dover, Ky.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. An infant daughter preceded her in death. Visitation will be held tonight (Wednesday), at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home in Goshen. The funeral will be held tomorrow, at 10:30 a m. in the funeral home. Pastor Thomas L. Ford of the Grace United Methodist Church in New Paris will officiate. Interment will be in New Paris cemetery. Lenora Seiffert April 8,1898 — Dec. 9.1979 Mrs. Leonra Seiffert, 81, Beyer Farm Apartments, Warsaw, mother of Mrs. Don (Gretchen) Watkins, r 1 Leesburg died at 10:30 a m Sunday, Dec. 9, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Death was due to complications following a fractured hip. She was a former Warsaw Welcome Wagon Hostess. Mrs. Seiffert was born April 8, 1898, at Walcott, lowa, to Carl and Wilhelmina (Yost) Schreiber. On September 15,1919, she married Henry Seiffert. He died on September 18,1969. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Warsaw and the West Wayne Extension Homemakers Club. Additional survivors include two sons, Eugene L. and Eric S. both of Warsaw; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Hodges, Warsaw and Mrs. Ardis White, Winona Lake; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the Titus Funeral Home. Rev. Howard Smith officiated and burial was in the Oakwood cemetery. Dec 7. the EMS was called to the Milford Junior High after a man playing basketball was injured He was transported to the Goshen Hospital Emergency Room A lady experiencing chest pain and pain in the left arm was transported on Monday. Dec 10. to the emergency room at Goshen Hospital r Syracuse EMS Syracuse EMS was called to Lot 7, Haviland Mobile Home Court, at 11:09p.m. on December 6 when Wanda Waggoner of that address became ill. She was transported to Goshen Hospital.

Gregory Smith participates in state, local government seminar
Gregory A. Smith, Town Trustee, North Webster, joined public officials from throughout northeastern Indiana November 28 and 29 in Fort Wayne to examine the relationship between state and local government. The seminar, “Indiana State Government,” was sponsored by the Academy in the Public Service. Participants focused on the paternalistic role of state government and how that relates to local government historically, in policy-making and in providing services. Course instructor was Dr Robert T. Perry, associate professor of political science at Ball State University. “Indiana State Government" is only one of 10 APS seminars offered regionally in Indiana to local and state elected officials. The'Academy in the Public Service, an affiliate of Georgetown University Graduate School, provides continuing education to Indiana’s citizen politicians — those public servants who earn their livelihoods in occupations other than government service and who typically have not received special training in public administration.
