SWCD public speaking contest February 12

Myron Metzger. Chairman of the Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District, today announced that the subject of the Fourteenth Annual Indiana Conservation Public Speaking Keck in Ford Soles Society Ted Abbott, zone manager of the Ford Motor Company, has announced that Melvin (Buzz) Keck recently attained membership in the prestigious Ford Society of Professional Sales Counselors for 1979. Membership in the Ford Sales Society can be attained only by those qualifying Ford salespersons who display outstanding achievement during the calendar year. jMr. Keck is currently employed with C. S. Myers Ford and has been a professional salesperson there since 1975. The Society of Professional Counselors is a professional organization created by the Ford Motor Company to honor top automotive salespersons. Mr. Keck has been a member for six years. Kiwanians learn about 4-H program Paul Siehenmorgan, assistant Kosciusko County Extension agent, spoke to Kiwanians at the Winter Land-O-Uikes Divisional meeting, held at a North Webster restaurant Members from 14 Kiwanis Clubs throughout the area were represented including members from the Wawasee club. Siebenmorgan presented a program that explained the 4-H program in Turkey Creek and Tippecanoe Townships which includes 1.164 members with 950 traditional (10*18 years) and 214 mini 4-H members (fight and nine year olds >. This breaks down even further at 51 per cent rural. 12 per cent inner-city and 24 per cent non-rural boys and girls Emphasis was placed on the fact that the 4-11 programs are not just summer activities, but encompass the entire year. There are 16 workshops, contests, day camps, public speaking and demonstrations, the Youth Exchange and the 4-H Congress available.

Two booked at county jail on court warrants Two area residents were arrested recently and booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on county court warrants. Victor Manuel Hernandez. 18, r 1 Milford, was booked at the jail on a county court warrant for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage. He was held on SSOO bond Also booked was James Cecil ('race. 18, r l Leesburg. He was booked on a county court warrant for failure to pay a fine for charges of illegal consumption and illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage. He was held on the county court officials authority. Syracuse man enters guilty plea A Syracuse man, Jerry W. Myers, r 1, pleaded guilty in Goshen City Court to a deception charge last week. He cashed a $73.39 check at the Kroger store in Goshen on an account that did not have a sufficient amount to cover the check. Myers was given a five-day suspended sentence and placed on formal probation for three months.

NILOC TO earth, Niloc to earth, do you read me earth? “Niloc to Earth” is a play written by Toni Morehead of Warsaw. Toni (Mrs. Glen Morehead), her husband and family will be remembered as former Milford residents. The play will be presented by members of the congregation of the Walnut Creek United Methodist Church on Sunday. Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. The play depicts an unearthly visitor to the planet earth who discovers the true meaning of the earthlings Christmas celebrations. Karl Keiper and Robert Cliqe. is in the process of sending letters through the mail to parents of all fifth, sixth and seventh grade boys in the Milford schools, asking them to take their sons to a meeting in the Milford Fire Station at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dec. 12. to encourage interest in the local troop. At the same time the committee is seeking a good, active Boy Scoutmaster and assistant The Milford Lions, sponsors of a Boy Scout Troop in Milford for years, have decided to take a more active role in the troop and its ongoing activities. We would encourage all such parents to take their sons to the December 12 meeting. Scouting can be fun; it is educational; and it helps build character and good citizenship. The community could hardly do better for its young folks.
