Louise I. Hobbs Dec. 3.1918 — NoV. 13. 1979 A longtime Kosciusko County resident, Mrs. Louise I. Hobbs, 60, r 1 Warsaw, died November 13 at 1:25 p.m. in Kosciusko Community Hospital where she had been a patient since November 7. She had been in failing health for several years. Mrs. Hobbs, a native of Long Dale Furnace, Va., was born December 3, 1918, to Matthew and Nannie (Moore) Nicely. On September 30, 1939, she married Arnold Hobbs who preceeded her in death on July 28, 1978. They had moved from Elwood n 1951. Among the survivors are her mother, Mrs. Nannie Nicely, Long Dale Furnace, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Juanita) Teel of Warsaw and Mrs. Bruce (Loretta) Naylor of North Webster and four grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers, Cecil, Charles and Dallas Nicely, all of Clifton Forge, Va., William of Darlington, Md., Willis of Covington, Va; and five sisters, Mrs. Russell (Eva) Wilhelm, Mrs. William (Catherine) Ross and Mrs. William (Lee) Robbins, all of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Robert (Natalie) Morrison, Long Dale Furnace, Va., and Mrs. Leon (Betrice) Anderson of Orestes. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Moore at the Wyman Funeral Home in Pierceton last Friday, Nov. 16. Interment was in the Hillcrest cemetery. * .-v - Miiiard A. Scott, Jr. Feb. 6, 1927 —Nov. 17. 1979 - Minard A. Scott, Jr., 52, 21861 SR 119, Goshen, father of Lozelle Ann Scott, Milford, died at 12:15 * p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Elkhart Hospital. He had been a patient 10 days. Scott, a native of Chicago, 111., was born on February 6. 1927 and married .iivnda J. Yahr on February 6, 1951, in Elkhart. He was an Air Force veteran, former owner and president of Saturn Campers, Inc., and had retired from Scott Insurance Agency. Survivors also include his wife, Lynda; a son, Minard A. 111, Fort Myers. Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Renbarger, Upland, Calif. Private services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Rev. Laurence Herman, , assistant pastor of Saint Vincent Catholic Church officiated. Cremation followed. Memorials may be made to Saint John’s Catholic Church, Goshen.

Mrs. Helen Nagle Mrs. Hefen A. Nagle, 84, halfsister of Mrs. Beaulah Kehr, Leesburg, died Thursday, Nov. 15, at 10:10 a m. in the LaGange County Hospital. She had been a patient one day. She was bom in Goshen and was married to William S. Nagle on August 30, 1941, in Goshen. He died April 27, 1970. Mrs. Nagle was a resident of Country Place Apartments, LaGrange and had been a former resident of Shipshewana. She was a member of Berea Missionary Chruch, Shipshewana. Additional survivors include a * daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Mildred) Belt, Wana tehee. Wash.; three sons, Robert E. Ulery, Goshen, Willianfi H. Ulery, Oberlin, Kan., and Dean L. Ulery, LaGrange; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gorden (Betty) 1 Berkey, Goshen; a stepson, Robert Nagle, Goshen; a sister, Mrs. George (Rubidean) Tennyson, Zephyrhills, Fla.; 20 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the Frurip-May Funeral Home, LaGrange. Rev. Forrest Hayes, pastor of the Berea Missionary Church, officiated and burial was in Rock Run cemetery, Millersburg. Memorials may be made to the church. Othello D. Hoffman Feb. 22. 1901 — Nov. 17. 1979 Mrs. Elmer (Othello D.) Hoffman, 78, r 1 Claypool, mother of Don Hoffman, r 2 Leesburg and sister of Mrs. Lillian Anglin, r 2 Leesburg, died at 6:30 am. Saturday, Nov. 17, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. She had been failing in health for one year. She was born in Kosciusko County on February 22, 1901. to Omer and Minnie (Block) Igo. In 1918 she was married to Elmer Hoffman and in April 1978 the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He survives. Other survivors include another son. Robert Hoffman, r 1 Claypool; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Yeiter, r 4 Warsaw; eight grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren. One son preceded her in death. Funeral services were at 10:30 a m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Haupert Funeral Home, Akron. Rev. Wayne Johnson, pastor of the Athens United Methodist Church, officiated and burial was in the Nichols cemetery.
Melba E. Lobdell Julv 24,1893 — November 13,1979 Mrs. Melba E. Lobdell, 86.1602 W. Pike Street, Goshen, died following a five day illness last Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Goshen Hospital. The daughter of Robert and Ella (Osborn) Brewster, Mrs. Lobdell was born in Coldwater. Mich., on July 24, 1893. On June 20, 1920, she married Ralph M. Lobdell who died June 23,1973. A retired school teacher. Mrs. Lobdell had attended Western Michigan College. She was a member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren. Survivors include several nieces and nephews among whom is Robert Brewster. Syracuse. Harry Brewster, her only brother, preceded her in death. Services were held Saturday. Nov. 17, in the Gillespie Funeral Home, Coldwater, Mich., with ?tev. James C. Troust officiating, nterment was in Oak Grove cemetery. Ruby Bell Hummel March 26.1897 —Nov. 19. 1979 A lifetime Syracuse resident. Mrs. Ruby Bell Hummel 82, r 2, died Monday at 6 am. in the home of her daughter. Mrs. Robert Lantz. She had been ill for the past three years. The daughter of Joseph and Loretta (Noel) Godshalk. Mrs. Hummel was born on March 26. 1897. She married Doris Hummel who preceded her in death in 1958. Among the survivors are two daughters. Mrs. Robert (June) Lantz and Mrs. Charles (Rosemary) Lantz, both from Syracuse; five brothers. Henry Godshalk, Bristol, Ted Godshalk, Granger. Ray Godshalk. Louise Marshall , July 2. 1886 —Nov. 18, 1979 1 A former Syracuse resident, Mrs. Louise Marshall, 93, of Plymouth Harbor, Sarasota, Fla., died last Sunday Nov‘ 18, at 4:55 a m. in Sarasota. She had been ailing for several years. The daughter of Dayton D. and Kathryn (Dana) Cramer, she was born in Martinsville on July 2, 1886. She married Homer Marshall on May 14, 1915, in
Toledo, Ohio. He died in 1964. While a resident of Syracuse and Goshen, Mrs. Marshall had worked for the auditor in Goshen and Elkhart County before retiring and moving to Florida. She was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Goshen and had at one time been president of that organization. The only surviving family members are nieces and nephews. r The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Blocker-Harris Funeral Home at Goshen. Pastor Fuhrman Miller of the First United Methodist Church in Goshen officiated. Burial was in the Violett cemetery. Joseph Schlabach Sept. 30.1943 — Nov. 21,1979 Joseph (Joe) G. Schlabach, 36, r 3 Syracuse, was found dead at 6:30 am. this morning (Wednesday) in his car parked outside of Lakeland Motors where he was employed. Death was due to natural causes. November 13. 1902. in Clinton Township, near Millersburg. On July 14,1922. he married Dorothy M. France. She survives. Rogers was the founder of Rogers Industrial Painters and former owner of Rogers Furniture and Insurance Agency. At the time of his deathlhe was involved in the rental and construction business and since 1946 he had owned Rogers Tree Farm, his summer home. He was a member of Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church. Millersburg. Goshen Lodge 12 F&AM, Goshen Commandery 50 KT of which he was a past commander, Orak Shrine Temple and BPOE Lodge 798 of which he was a past exalted ruler. Also surviving are three sons, Roy E. Rogers, Jr., Goshen, Edward V. Rogers, at home, and James L. Rogers, Middlebury; two daughters. Mrs. R. W. (Ruth) Lantz, Elkhart and Mrs. Eugene (Helen) Moser, Ligonier; 12 grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were in the Reith-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Friday. Benton Avenue, was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital after she became ill at home.
