14 YEARS AGO. NOV. 24.1965 Becky Hoerr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoerr of Milford, arrived home Tuesday from Ball State university where she is a freshman. Rodney Bailey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge Bailey of Milford arrived yesterday to spend a week with his parents. Rodney is a freshman at Manchester College. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Schumaker were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arch Baumgartner Friday evening. Miss Maude McLaughlin was a dinner guest Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Brown. The day marked Miss McLaughlin’s birthday. Miss Bertha Neff who is attending school at North Manchester, spent the week end here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Neff. Mrs. John Hoerr of Peoria, 111., who was visiting her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Matthew Weisser north of town returned to her home Tuesday. Girl Scouts visit WSJV Syracuse Girl Scout Troop 130 went to visit WSJV Channel 28 in Elkhart on November 7. The girls first had a tour of the action and then at 10 a m. they \newed the filming of “Good Morning, Michiana.” Some of the Scouts were on camera for a short interview. The leaders were Joan Kline, Sherrie Wogoman and Sharon Boles.
Milford man held for child molesting Jesus M. Martinez, 26, 311 Fourth Street, Milford, has been charged with two counts of child molesting, class B and C felonies. He as been lodged in the Kosciusko County jail since October. The felonies allegedly occurred several times before October 27 in a trailer and his auto. The girls were eight and seven years old. Martinez was arrested on October 27 by Milford Marshal David Hobbs on charges of public intoxication and resisting a police officer Hobbs and Kosciusko County Patrolman Richard Monk investigated the child molesting cases.

Your schedule will be full of special events. 'Brazil' topic for Kiwonians Miss Amy Bales, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bales of Syracuse, was guest speaker for Kiwanis Club of Lakeland. North Webster, on Monday, November 12. She is a member of the junior class at Wawasee High School and she spent June and July last summer as a guest of Alex Feliciano’s family in Brazil. During the 1978-1979 school year Alex lived at the. Bales home while he was an exchange student from Brazil. Miss Bales pointed out that although she had studied Spanish for two years, she found Portuguese used in Brazil somewhat difficult to understand. She observed that family ties were strong in Brazil and life more relaxed than in the United States. Slides of scenes in Brazil were shown to help illustrate Sugar Loaf Mountain', ’ theatres, stadiums, cathedrals, modern office buildings, and bridges in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Miss Bales explained that sports for young people were organized through clubs rather than schools. She displayed a sweater and boots that she had purchased while in Brazil. Sherman Bryant, member of Lakeland Kiwanis and Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor of Land of Lakes Division of Kiwanis Indiana District, was commended for being honored at a division meeting in Warsaw on November 8. He was selected as the “Distinguished Lieutenant Governor” of the Kiwanis Indiana district for 1978-1979 for his outstanding leadership in our state. The presentation for this honor was made by William Lieber, Immediate Past Govern nor of the Kiwanis Indiana District. Richard Mason of North Webster was inducted at the local club meeting on November 12 as the first new Lakeland Kiwanis member for the 1979-1980 year beginning on October 1. His sponsor was Dan Watson. Most people mistake authoritative talk for intelligence.

Hook Drugs, Inc. opens 250th drug store
Indianapolis based Hook Drugs, Inc. announced plans to open its 250th drug store. The 7,500 sq. ft. unit is located in Fishers' and opened November 15. The firm was founded in 1900 by John A. Hook who opened his first drug store on the near southside of Indianapolis at age 19. Opening alongside the Fishers store will be Hook's fourth QuikWay Convenient Food Market. The market will have 2.280 sq. ft.

Coburn booked for burglary A Syracuse man, Charles Kenneth Coburn, 28, r 1. was booked last Tuesday, Nov. 13, on a charge of burglary, theft and check deception. The charges stem from the October 22 theft of several articles from the home of Merle “Bud” and Laura Sue Campbell, 325 E. Catherine St.. Milford. Police contend Coburn and another Syracuse man previously arrested, stole a ceramic donkey bank containing loose change totaling SSO, a ladies' bow ling ball and bag, a man’s nylon sobk containing approximately SSO in silver dollars and an undetermined amount of other coins. Coburn is being held in Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of SIO,OOO bond.
