LOUISA’S LETTER ©lll|||i
Dear Louisa, My husband and 1 have a small income and we have to budget very carefully in order to get along. My two sisters are married to men who are very good providers and they have many luxuries that I have to do without. Needless to say my sisters are very sorry for me because of my financial state. Now the truth of the matter is that I am the only really happy one of the three of us and I’ll tell you the reason why. It’s because my husband loves me very much and shows it by his consideration of me even in little things. If he is detained when I am expecting him he takes time out to call and let me knowhe takes the trouble to find out what 1 like for gifts rather than buying something he admires--he opens the car door for me-he doesn’t try to browbeat me into agreeing with him on issues we differ about. Our marriage is a fifty, fifty affair. I look out for his comfort and he looks out

for mine. On the other hand one of my sisters who has a mink coat and diamonds has a husband who thinks that his comfort and desires should be the first thought of all those who live with him. He can be charming and generous when it suits him to be but if it’s not convenient he can be most inconsiderate of other people. If his wife or children would like to take a trip and it doesn’t appeal to him they all stay home. My other sister has a husband who cheats on her. I am a very happy woman and my husband and 1 have a happy life together although we live in a small house and drive a six year old car. Devoted Wife--N.C.
