Grapplers have 8 lettermen

This year’s Wawasee wrestling team will be lacking grapplers in the upper weight classes. First year coach, Richard Welburn, stated that this year’s team will have a lot of inexperience in the upper weight divisions because of the six wrestlers who left last year. There are however, eight returning lettermen. For the freshman, junior varisty and varsity wrestling teams there are a total of 30 wrestlers but every position will not be filled on the freshman and junior varsity level. Welburn feels that the with the inexperience he will be trying to

avoid the injury circumstances through conditioning. He said the grapplers are a very excellent group as they work with conditioning programs. He will be basically working the wrestlers into shape. The toughest teams for the grapplers this year will be Warsaw, Goshen and North Wood. all three conference teams. The first meet of the season will be with North Wood. This conference meet is set to start at 7 p.m., weighing will be at 6:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4. Assisting Welburn this year is Doug Hutsell.
