Gary Baker, first year coach for the Warrior junior varisty basketball team, wants this year’s team to match its freshman basketball record of 8-8 or do better. The majority (12) of this year’s junior varsity team members are sophomores with three juniors. Baker stated some of the players will also be participating on the varsity squad.

As in the case of the varsity, the team will lack height and will have to rely on quickness, fast break and the press. A goal the team has set is to make the varsity players work as hard as they can for a better season and then the goal is for their own team to have a better season. To make this goal come true. Coach Baker feels the junior varsity will
need to work extra hard. Charles Kleinrichert a 6’4” sophomore will be playing varsity and junior varsity. Kleinrichert is the tallest player on both teams. The remaining players average out to the height of 6’o” or 6’l”. A big plus for the team, as felt by Baker, is that all players have good grades this year and every
player is academically eligible to play ball. Out of 23 players 20 teammates made the Honors Independant Time. Baker stated that the kids are applying themselves to both academic studies and sports. Those players who participated on the junior varsity squad last year are: Tim Butt, John Locke, Steve Koble and Brian Giger.
