Lacking on this year’s team in the height. Kneeling in front are Jeff Long. John Locke, Kevin Schrock. Tom Troup and Bart Bowser. Standing in back are Coach Mike Jones, Mike Brannock, Dave Meade, Eric Shepherd, Charles Kleinrichert, Kan Paulus and Tim X Butt. Warriors are small, face building year
‘‘lt will be a building year and I hope we gain in experience, a big factor is we have very little size. The tallest player is 6'4”,” remarked Wawasee varsity basketball coach Mike Jones. The only returning letterman is Bart Bowser, a senior. The goal for this year’s varsity squad has been set by Jones. The goal is for each individual player to reach their highest per-
formance level. If they give 100 per cent and reach the individual talent potential he will be satisfied. “Os course I would like to have a winning season,” remarked Jones. The team has a very positive outlook, according to Jones. He said they realize the goals which have been set areJong range and if the teams attitude stays, the team will be in good shape. Jones
feels it will be a good season if the players respond quickly to experiences encountered and try to be a team. There was a large turnout for the team and Jones felt it was a hard decision in cutting potential players. There were 37 boys trying out for the squad, 12 players higher than last year. Jones said the kids gave a good
preseason show and worked hard. Competition this year will be the toughest between the conference teams who are up this year according to Jones. Also, he feels a lot of the non-conference teams will be very good. He hopes he can get out of the first games without losing the team’s confidence, since the toughest games will be early in the season.
