Area youth arrested for theft of tools Kent Joseph Matney, 18. r 3 Syracuse, was arrested and booked for the Friday night theft of equipment from Bob’s Shell Station, Washington and Main Streets, North Webster Matney was charged with taking two jay hooks and a 16 foot chain. The total value was approximately $l5O. Matney was caught when police were called to Trojan Motorcycle Track where it was reported two autos were stuck. The stolen articles were found on the floor of a 1978 gray Chevy Blazer registered to Richard Matney, r 3 Syracuse. Young Matney made a formal statement Saturday afternoon and admitted to the theft. DARR ARRESTED Dennis J. Darr, 30, r 1 Syracuse, was arrested over the week end by area police for parole violation and was held with out bond. To give a chromium teakettle a quick and easy shine, go over it with a piece of wax paper when the kettle is warm.
Brush,leaf fires in Syracuse The Syracuse Fire Department answered two calls during the past week. On November 4, a leaf fire was burning out of control at 113 South Lake Street. Damage of $75 was done to the siding on the home of Golden Wright. The person who started the fire is unknown. Another fire of unknown origin was reported by Sandra K. Smith on SR 13 south of Syracuse. The brush fire occurred October 31.

The Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana, Inc. has designated November as the month to inform the community about the Hill-Burton Act. A publication in flyer form prepared by the Older Adult Impact Program of Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana, Inc., is being distributed as part of a concentrated month-long effort to educate the public and especially older adults about HillBurton. The flyer briefly describes the new Federal regulations that became effective September 1, 1979. The Elkhart and Goshen General Hospitals are governed by these new HillBurton Regulations. Hill Burton legislation is Federal Law that provides grants or loans of money to hospitals and non-profit nursing homes for building projects. In return for the money, the hospital or nursing home must give a certain amount of free or low cost care every year to low income people. During November, the Older Adult Impact Program will make informative presentations concerning the Hill-Burton Act to senior citizen organizations and Syracuse teenagers injured in accident A teenage Syracuse girl and the passenger in the car she was driving were injured Sunday on CR 900E and Old Road 13A. Tami Flowers, 17, 512 S. Harrison St., Syracuse, was traveling north on the country road when her car went out of control hitting the drainage abutment on the east side of the road. The driver suffered a broken nose, loosened teeth and a laceration of the face. The passenger, Terri Small, 16, r 1 Syracuse was treated at Goshen Hospital for facial and knee abrasions and lacerations. Damage to the auto was set at SBOO.
