Thomas A. Anguish killed, swerves to miss deer, hits auto
One man was killed and three persons were injured in a two-car collision last Wednesday evening on SR 13 just north of North Webster. Thomas A. Anguish, 22, r 7 box 71 Warsaw, driver of one of the cars, was dead on arrival at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Dr Arthur Moser ruled that Anguish had died of a ruptured spleen. The Anguish auto, traveling south on SR 13, swerved while trying to avoid hitting a deer. He then struck the deer, skidding sideways into the northbound lane where the car was hit broad
Leesburg man killed on 25th birthday
Glendon L. Huffman, Jr., 25, r 2 Leesburg, was killed on his 25th birthday Friday when his car crashed into an embankment at Cherry Creek Bridge on Packerton Road south of Warsaw. He was killed on impact. Police reported that Huffman failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road, first traveling 216 feet in the air and then traveling another 33 feet after he struck the embankment on the opposite side of the creek. Evidently the accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Friday when neighbors said they heard a noise which may have been the car sliding into the embankment but the accident was not discovered until shortly after 9:30 a.m. the following morning. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Huffman was the son of Mr and Mrs. Glendon Huffman and was born October 26,1954. in Warsaw. He was employed by Phend and

side by a car driven by Roma Zimmerman, r 1 Warsaw. Linda Snyder, 17, r 2 Syracuse, a passenger in Anguish’s car, suffered possible abdominal injuries, head cuts, and a shoulder separation. She is listed in poor condition in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Admitted to KCH and listed in satisfactory condition, Zimmerman suffered a concussion and pains in the lower back and pelvis. In addition to his father and stepmother, Huffman is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Marcias Lou Rogers, Fayetteville, Ark., Mrs. Janice Lewis, Breckenridge, Minn, and two brothers, David and Terry, both of W’arsaw. His mother preceded him in death. Also surviving are two stepbrothers, Rick and Rusty Hollar, Milford; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Delpha Blosser, Warsaw; his paternal gran-' dmother, Mrs. Doris Huffman, Etna Green; and his maternal step-grandmother, Mrs. Virginia Spycher, Flint, Mich. Services were held this morning (Wednesday) at 10:30 a m. at the McHatton-Wyman Funeral Home, Warsaw. Rev. David Glosser officiated and burial was in the Leesburg cemetery.

The 13th fatality on Kosciusko County roads this year. Anguish probably died when the arm rest in his car struck and ruptured his spleen. County Patrolman Thomas Brindle said that the collision occurred four feet, six inches left of the center of the highway. The deer which the auto hit was later found off the west side of the road. Other officers assisting Brindle were Sheriff Alan Rovenstine, Patrolman Thomas Kitch and Reserve Officers Robert Breyer and Jerry Eisaman. Anguish, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin A. Anguish, r 1 Pierceton, was born on February 17, 1957, in Fort Wayne. He had been resident of the county for most of his life. A mechanic at B & B Garage in North Webster, he is also survived by a son, Thomas Alvin of North Webster and his maternal grandmother. Mrs. Margaret Giddens of Huntington. Rev. Lester Young of the Winona Church of the Brethren officiated at the services which were held Saturday at 10:30 a m. at the Harris Funeral Home. Kelsey Miller Kelsey Miller. 89, r 1 Bourbon, died in Fountainview Place, Goshen on Thursday. Oct 25, at 10:22 am. He died of complications. Born in Marshall County on June 16, 1890, he married Sarah M. Lender on December 24, 1909. She died February 6,1977. Mr. Miller is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Roy (Grace) Eisenhour and Mrs. Russell (Elizabeth) Myers, both of Milford, Mrs Lyle (Kathryn) Main, Union, Mich., Mrs. Arden (Maxine) Williamson of Pierceton, Mrs. Robert (Laurabelle) Fields, Elkhart; and four sons, Clayton. Dan. and Junior Miller, all of Nappanee and Carl F., Bourbon. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren, 50 greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreat grandson. Survivors also include one brother, Willard, Nappanee; and four sisters. Mrs. Hope Watkins, and Mrs. Fannie Watkins, both of Bourbon, Mrs. Mary Jones, Mentone, and Mrs. Lodema Yeager, Albion. He was preceded in death by three sons, five brothers and three sisters Rev. D. J. Davis, pastor of the First Church of God, officiated at the funeral which w’as held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Wright-Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee. Interment was in the Sandridge cemetery, Bourbon.

Likens, 81, r 1 Pierceton, died Saturday, Oct. 27, in the McCray Memorial Hospital, Kendallville, at 10:45 p.m. She was born on July 18,1898, in Whitley County to Hamlin and Ella (Howenstine) Batz. Hospital and released His wife, Florence. 76, was admitted to the Goshen Hospital with fractures of the left leg and lacerations of the face. Lawrence Fisher, 64. r 1 Leesburg, a passenger in the Gardner auto, suffered lacerations of the head and possible rib fractures. He was admitted to the Goshen Hospital Mrs Lawrence < Earline ) Fisher, suffered rib fractures and abrasions of the lower legs. She too was admitted to the Goshen Hospital. Also injured was Marvin Wilsey, 702 W Carlton Ave., Elkhart, driver of the other auto. His wife. Elvira Wilsey, received a head injury. Both were treated and released. Passengers in the Wilsey auto. Larry W. Waldron, 33. Goshen, and William A. Nissley. 42, Bristol, were also injured Waldron sustained abrasions and complained of rib injuries but declined medical attention. Nissley was treated at the hospital for abrasions and released. Goshen Police Lt. Craig C. Leslie stated Gardner was driving the wrong way on Fifth Sjtreet. headed south. He drove from Fifth Street . onto Main Street and collided head on with the northbound Wilsey auto. Damages were set at $3,000. Lisa Golden in accident 7 in Warsaw Lisa Ann Golden, 18. r 5 Syracuse, was treated for a bump on the head, possible concussion and complained of sore ribs after her auto collided with another car Friday evening, Oct 26, at the intersection of US 30 and Center St. on (Tie northeast edge of Warsaw. Kosciusko County Patrolman Jeffrey Bronsing reported Golden’s autQjjad stopped in the crossover of US 30 then pulled into the intersection and struck the left side of an auto operated by Sarah E. Christner, 62, r 7 Warsaw. Christner was traveling west on US 30. Patrolman Bronsing estimated damage at S9OO to Christner’s auto and SSOO to Golden’s vehicle.
