Chevrolets to be displayed by Wyant's this week end
Wyant Chevrolet, Incorporated, Syracuse, will be featuring the 1980 Chevy line during the new car show this week end in Syracuse. Featured will be the Corvette, Caprice, Classic, Camaros and Monte Carlo and Impala models. A lot of technology has gone into the 1980 Caprice Classic to make it more efficient but there are some things about the car that weren’t tampered with. The elegance which has made the Caprice so popular with Americans is one, along with the car’s full-size roominess, impressive ride and famous Chevy value. On the outside. Caprice is more aerodynamically and visually pleasing with a new formal, squared-off roof line for coupes and sedans that’s particularly noticeable and appealing in the coupe. A smart new grille and

new wheel covers provide fresh design accents. Inside, a new tape drive mechanism makes it easier to raise and lower windows, automatic transmission, power steering and power front disc brakes are things that don’t cost extra and the Caprice interior still emphasizes comfort and luxury. Bearing this out are an electric clock, door pull straps, courtesy lights, fold-down center armrest on sedans, headlight reminder buzzer, carpeted lower door panels, color-keyed seat and shoulder belts and special quiet sound acoustics. The vinyl-covered front roof gets special attention with a new bright roof molding that runs across and down the sides of the roof, then extends forward along the full length of the front fenders. Dual sport mirrors and wire wheel covers are two other distinctive Landau touches.
The beauty and value of Caprice is available in a sedan, coupe or the Landau coupe, or if room is needed there are two and three seat wagons, available for the first time in 1980 with diesel power. The Impala models for 1980 have changed for the better in many big and small ways while keeping pace with the demands for efficiency. The company has made sure that the full-size family car continues to be a fine value at an affordable price. This year, to heighten Impala’s eye appeal and lower its wind resistance, the exterior has been reshaped and a symmetrical new grille has been added. To further dramatize the sophisticated roof line, an available new vinyl top may be added that wraps up to the rear window and gives a rich padded look. The anti-corrosion measurers and improved door locks have also been stepped up. Standard features such as power steering, power front disc brakes and automatic transmission enhance the ease of driving and such niceties as flowthrough ventilation, armrests, color-keyed carpeting, colorkeyed seat and shoulder belts, center dome light, glove and luggage compartment lights and cigarette lighters. The 1980 Chevrolet Impala is available in
Easy does it if rocking car
Automatic transmissions have a tough way to go in deep snow. This is due in part to the added resistance against the tires rolling through the snow. But the greatest damage can come from attempts to rock the car out of an icy rut. When attempting to free yourself by alternately shifting from drive to reverse, do it gently. Changing gears abruptly while wheels are spinning can be harmful, if

sedan, coupe or in two or three seat station wagons. For 1980 the Monte Carlo distinction continues with the sculptured, flowing fender line and the subtle way it curves captures and bends the light. The new grille is bold and impressive and the dual rectangular headlights are new. Strength and dependability are integral elements of the new car, designed through the most advanced computer technology ever brought to bear in a Monte Carlo. The car rests on a heavily ribbed and formed underbody and has a strong Body by Fisher, and the doors, roof, hood and deck lid are double-panel construction. Inside each fender is an extra fender for extra protection against corrosion. The entire underbody is undercoated; rust-resistant primers extensively coat the body. It all starts with the fun of a Sport Coupe, then the stylish roadability of the Rally Sport, the elegance and comfort of the Berlinetta and the charge that comes from the Z2B, the maximum Camaro.
not fatal, to your automatic transmission. Since you probably won’t get out of your rut any faster by increasing the speed of that spinning rear tire, go easy on the gas and be sure you have brought the wheel to a complete stop before changing from forward to reverse or vice versa. If you pause by applying your brakes between change of direction, you'll help ease the strain too.

In a world of precautionary labels, put this one on your "must read" list: stating, simply. DANGER . . . EXPLOSIVE GASES, the warning on your car’s battery also savs POISON . . . CAUSES SEVERE BURNS. Sound scary? Consider that the battery is a device which uses chemical's to produce electrical energy. In so doing, it creates an explosive mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. The ill-fated dirigible Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen. A battery explosion can cause blindness, among other injuries, so the Car Care Council lists six don’ts to remember when you are working around the battery: 1) Don’t use a match or cigarette lighter to illuminate what you are doing. 2) Don’t lean over the battery when working on it. 3) Don’t connect the ground-jumper cable to the run-down battery. Instead, hook it to the frame of the car. as far as possible from the battery. 4) Don’t be careless when using tools around the battery.
