Doing the Lord's work keeps Robert Gross Busy
Doing the Lord’s work has kept Robert Graff, CR 50 Syracuse, busy for the past 10 years in the Grace Bible Church. Syracuse Graff is the assistant pastor, chairman of the board for the Christian School, an adult Sunday School teacher, church elder and maintenance man. In his position as assistant pastor he makes visitations to church members and leads a Bible institute for the working people who want a Bible education. He also fills the pulpit when a pastor is sick or on vacation. He is licensed to preach and is able to do all the necessaryduties a pastor must do. As a maintenance man he takes care of all the grounds and buildings, including the school grounds. Currently he is in charge of the carpentry work in the home the church is remodeling for the pastor. Dr David Haifley. Graff has taught one of the adult Sunday school classes for the past 12 years. Before presenting the lesson the pastor has outlined for the classes. Graff spends a lot of time studying the outline and the scripture text. When presenting the text to the class there are three areas he touches on: The primary interpretation. personal application and prophetic significance of the text. In the primary interpretation it answers the questions, who? what? when? where? and why? In the personal application Graff deals with how the scripture applies to Christians through the text and what the Lord is teaching Christians. In the area of prophetic significance, he hits on the areas of what God is teaching as to the future events and understanding current events in light of other scriptures. Sometimes during the class he hits on the weak areas as a church corporate and personal weaknesses. Since the class study is outlined by Dr. Haifley, there is a Sundayevening teachers training, when all teacher’s are present and receive the following Sunday’s lesson. Every teacher teaches the same lesson topic but adapts the lesson to that particular age group. As chairman of the school board, which is also the church board, decisions are made when there.is a serious problem Dr. Haifley, as administrator, feels should be handled by the board. Some of the decisions the board handles include disciplinary problems, financial situations and setting the standards for the school such as the clothing, hair style and disciplinary rules.
