Down memory lane
We all watched Annette Funicello develop on “The Mickey Mouse Club” from 1955 to 1959. Well, whatever happened to Annette? She grew up and had babies. Annette is the mommy of two boys and a girl. And the wife of actors’ agent Jack Gilardi whom she married in 1965. They all live happily in a great big house in Encino, California. Tools stolen Ira Walker, r 5 Syracuse, reported a jig saw, dual action sander and a drive drill were stolen from his truck on Thursday morning, August 23. Reportedly, the thieves entered Walker’s unlocked garage and removed the tools from his truck.
Court, $2,000. Dennis W. Joy, 22. 208 Fifth St., Pierceton, dealing in marijuana. Class A misdemeanor, Kosciusko County Court. SI,OOO. Detxjrah K. Piper, 25, 112 Thirteenth St., Winona Lake, dealing in a controlled substance (LSD), Class B felony. Kosciusko Circuit Court. $2,000. Officers working with the undercover officer stated they were amazed at the openness of some of the drug sales. Drugs were sold in broad daylight at Warsaw’s Center Lake Park and other city and county locations. Kosciusko County Prosecuting attorney Michael Miner, who helped officers prepare the cases, was present at the jail to observe the booking process at 5 a m. last Wednesday. Officials plan to. continue to monitor drug activities in an effort to control the drug situation and prevent drugs from entering the hands of local young people.
When “The Mickey Mouse Club” ended, Disney kept Annette under contract until 1970. During this time she was loaned out to make eight beach flicks with Frankie Avalon. She never wore a bikini in any of these films because Walt Disney asked hes not to. He was afraid that seeing a curvey Annette in a bikini would ruin her sweet Disney image. Tommy Rettig (Jeff on the original Lassie series 1955 to 1957) was one of the hottest boy actors in Hollywood. Besides his weekly assignments with the superstar collie. Tommy made several movies Among them: “The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T,” “River of No Return,” with Marilyn Monroe, and “The Last Wagon” with Richard Widmark. But after Rettig grew up producers didn’t want to hire him. They claimed he wasn’t the leading man type and his 5’ 4” frame didn’t help either. By 1966 he couldn’t even get bit parts. So Rettig had to point his life in a different direction. He and Darlene (his wife of 19years) run the Daisy Hill Farm in Arroyo Grande, Calif. They farm organically on 50 acres. In 1972 they were arrested for growing marijuana on their little farm. Since that time Tommy and Darlene have been in and out of court on pot charges. Tommy is now 37 and has two sons. Except for his longer hair and mustache, he looks the same way he looked in the 1950’5. Break-in reported at Lakeview Concrete Lakeview Concrete, North Webster, was the scene of a breek-in and theft on Monday morning. Lt. Richard Mikel, county policeman, said the thieves pushed in an overhead door to get into the building. The thieves took 32 bags of mortar valued at $116.80 and 10 to 14 bags of cement worth $52.80. Estimated damage to the overhead door was S4OO with a total estimate of $569.60 in damage and stolen property. ARRESTED ON DECEPTION CHARGE Charles Kenneth Cobum, 25, 430 Dolan Drive, Syracuse, was arrested on a county court warrant and released on SIOO bond for check deception.
