carried long-stemmed yellow roses. Male attendants included Doug Starkey, best man; Mike Ayers; and Phil Rarick. brother of £he bride. Chad Allen, ringbearer; and Alvssa Rarick. flower girl, added a touch of lightness to the ceremony. Both, are cousins of the bride. The bride s gown was of white crepe with a chapel train, a Queen Anne's neckline and a fingertip-length veil edged with soft-white lace, made by the bride's mother. The bride carried a bouquet of white field lilies. The reception immediately followed in the Nappanee Brethren fellowship hall. Donuts and fruit were served. The bride is a graduate of Pairfield High School and is a senior at Taylor University. The bridegroom is a graduate of Wawasee High School and a 1977 graduate of Taylor University. After a two-week honeymoon in Plorida the couple is residing at Upland.

Home Arts Club meets

The Home Arts Club of Milford held its August meeting in the home of Mrs. James Baker of Dewart Lake. Mrs. Baker, vice president, opened the meeting by leading the pledge to the flag and the club creed. She also read “He Knows the Shepherd” for meditation. Roll call was answered by each member telling what she enjoyed at the Kosciusko County Fair. Mrs. Vera Schell gave the garden lesson. She told of different kinds of tea that contain carcinogens and uses of various herbs and vegetables. The lesson on food purchasing and storage was given by Mrs. Paul Cormany. She advised members to buy fresh vegetables wisely and store them properly to conserve vitamins. She explained that cabbage may be blanched and frozen in plastic bags for cooking and soup making. Cynthia Rapp becomes bride of Doyle Kolberg

The New Salem Church of the Brethren near Milford was the scene of the August 11 candlelight ceremony uniting Cynthia Ann Rapp and Doyle Mark Kolberg in marriage. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs Elmer Rapp of Milford and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Benton Kolberg of Syracuse. Mrs. Stephen Bornman of Syracuse was the organist and Mrs. Jesse Berger of Nappanee sang several musical selections. Windows in the sanctuary were decorated with lighted hurricane lamps surrounded by pink candle rings. A floral arrangement graced the front of the church and pink and white carnations were arranged on the candleabra. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white polyester satin gown which she made. The slightly flaired floor-length gown extended into a train and had a high fitted bodice with the front and back yoke overlaid in lace surrounded by ruffles. The full-length sleeves gathered into lace-covered shaped cuffs. White satin ribbon trim highlighted the front and bodice seaming. She carried a colonial style bouquet consisting of white roses, white and pink carnations and baby’s breath. Sandy Rosenbaum of South Bend served as maid of honor. She wore an evening-length light pink gown of polyester satin with a sheer light pink floral print for the long sleeves, elasticized at the wrist and yoke overlay surrounded by ruffles. The bridesmaid was Brenda Davis of Villa Grove, 111. She wore a gown identical to that of the maid of honor. Both carried bouquets of silk pink roses and miniature white carnations and baby’s breath arranged around a lighted hurricane lamp. Each wore a small cluster of pink roses, white pompons and baby’s breath in her hair. Stacey Mangan, niece of the bridegroom, was the flower girl. She wore a gown and flowers in her hair identical to the other bridal attendants and carried a small white baskets of rose petals. Burton Butt of Syracuse served as best man. The bridegroomsman was Tim Butt, also of Syracuse. The ringbearer was Eric Kolberg, nephew ’of the bridegroom. Serving as ushers were Eric Kolberg and Rick Rapp, brothers

Leesburg club holds picnic A picnic supper was enjoyed by 17 members and 12 guests of the Leesburg Homemakers Club Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the home of Mrs. Hersher Albert on Tippecanoe Lake. Mrs. Kenneth Miller was cohostess. Club President Betty Smith conducted a short business meeting after supper. The group ended the evening by playing games. The hext meeting of the Leesburg Homemakers Club is scheduled for September 19 at the home of Betty Smith in Warsaw.

The serving table featured lighted candles on each side of the wedding cake which was decorated with light pink silk flowers and swans. Light pink silk roses and greenery surrounded the base of the cake. Serving the guests were Kathy Butt, Syracuse; Judy Shaffer, Silver Lake; and Cindy Kammerer, Leesburg. Also helping were Sharon Meek, Syracuse; and Gina Stookey, Leesburg. Assisting with the gifts were Georgina Morehouse, Milford; and Mrs. Matthew Holt, Warsaw. Following a short wedding trip, the couple will reside near Syracuse where the bridegroom farms and is employed as a carpenter and the bride is employed as a high school home economics teacher with the Fairfield Community Schools.

Waubee Lake Association sets pot luck for Aug. 26

Members of the Waubee Lake Association's Board of Directors met in the home of Dan Schwaub on August 14 and discussed whether to replace or repair the weed cutter. The board decided Dan Schwaub and Bob Turner would maintain the weed cutter for the rest of the season and information would be gathered on costs of replacement parts and costs of purchasing a new weed cutter. A final decision on replacing or repairing the weed cutter will be made at the next meeting. The board also decided to remove the pier at the beach September 5 at 5:30. The markers on the island and barge will also be removed, but no removal date was set. Pot Luck The board wishes to remind Waubee Lake Property Owners of the pot luck mea 1 a 15:30 August 26 at Camp Mack. Special programs and games will be included.
