Tippy Lakers set land use committee, holds annual dinner

Matt Dalton, president of the Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners, announced at the annual dinner-dance last Friday in the Lake Tippecanoe Country Club, that a land-use and ecology committee has been formed. The committee will have as initial members, George Buckingham, chairman; Marie Kempher. vice chairman , fyiron Hinesley; Cliff Terry; and Dalton. Their task will be to insure that all legal notices published in the papers covering land use will be reviewed to ascertain their impact on the property owners. A collection of several hundred dollars was taken to provide funds for a retainer for a Warsaw attorney and to start a fund to cover any legal costs encountered. A slip of paper with

of Milford and Mr. and Mrs. William Ulery and Miss Blanche Brown of Nappanee motored to Indianapolis and took in the state fair returning on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Klopenstine and daughter, Mary of Mishawaka were visitors here during the fair, the guests of Mrs. Mary Klopenstine. Irvin Miller and family of Elkhart were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Eli Cox. Saturday.

Buckingham’s address was placed at every place and Dalton requested that all members keep this slip and write to Buckingham when they notice any activity suggesting improper land use, or evasion of the zoning ordinances. It has been suspected that some notices requiring defensive action have been published in the winter when many residents are not at the lake. It is hoped that a continuous active surveillance such as this will avoid missing such actions. The dinner-dance, an annual function, was sold out for the first time with 260 members and guests enjoying a buffet dinner and dancing. The Women’s Auxiliary had contacted many area merchants and obtained a large number of door prizes. "Walk through life and talk to anybody." Persian proverb
