Kerry Augsburger starts coffeehouse at Milford church
The idea came from Ball State University in Muncie where Kerri Augsburger attends classes. Why not have a coffeehouse in Milford? From the idea Miss Augsburger and others at the Milford Christian Church started a coffeehouse for college age persons. The coffeehouse began on May 26 and will continue through August 18. Each session starts at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until 10:30 or 11 p.m. At the start of each evening there is a 15-minute session for group singing and various area groups present specials. Between the singing and the 10 minute devotional at the close of the evening, time ns spent talking and

Miss Augsburger stated the purpose for the coffeehouse, held in the church's Christian Athletic Center, is to provide a time and place for college-age youth for fellowship in a Christian atmosphere. Between 10 and 15 college age people come from the Christian Church, others come from Goshen and Grace Colleges. North Webster, Syracuse. Leesburg and the Milford communities. The youth are from different churches. The coffeehouse had a special night on August 4 for high school

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

youth. At the ’High School Night,” Kathi Replogle provided music as did a group called, “Daybreak.” Many wanted the coffeehouse to continue throughout the year, but it is felt there will not be enough college age people in the area to keep it going. Miss Augsburger said they haven’t talked about having another coffeehouse next summer but a lot of people seem to think it is a good idea and they haven’t heard and bad comments. Her finAi comment was, “The Lord’s just been blessing it. We have a good time of fellowship and everyone has gotten to know other kids we wouldn't have otherwise. '*

FINDING BIBLE STUDY TIME How does a young mother, overloaded with the responsibilities of small children and a household, find time to include God’s Word in her busy day? According to Mrs. William Culbertson, a widow from Chicago, even a young mother only has time for a daily Bible verse, she can be greatly blessed and strengthened. “I’ve been greatly blessed by a little devotional calendar which has a verse for each day with a little message with it.” For any person just beginning to study God’s Word, Mrs. Culbertson suggested two possible starting places, “one from the Old Testament, one from the New. I think perhaps the Gospel of John might to me point the way to salvation the most clearly of any. I think in the Old Testament, I would encourage them to read the book of Psalms. Perhaps because the human instrument in writing the Psalms went through so many hard places himself and it was a heart cry to God on his part.” If you have a story about the Bible, send it to the Christian Bible Society, Nashville, TN 37210.
