Two 17-year-old girls from the Warsaw area who made the most recent trip with the 76-person tour gave testimonial talks about their experiences. —o— ANN WICKERSHAM, of the Fdrt Myers, Fla. area, writes that she spent a week at Lakeland, Fla., at the School of Christian Missions, at Florida Southern College. After registering, one of the first people she met was Mildred Petrie, who with her late husband, Herbert, were founders of the Wagon Wheel Playhouse in Warsaw. Mrs. Petrie is president of the Sarasota District of United Methodist Women’s Fellowship. At 71, he completed his first race (3.1 miles) at Nappanee Saturday morning. “I’d hate to tell you the time it took,” he mused, but admits to “building up” to this race by walking for six weeks or more. His wife. Mary Katherine, climbed the Grand Teton Mountain just south of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming in 1935 with the famous guide Paul Petzold, founder of the outdoor leadership school, and Don’s running is his answer to her outdoor prowess of yesteryear. —o- . 808 HICKMAN, youngest son of Jack and Nancy Hickman, of • our community, is spending a month in West Hollywood. Who has WAWAC? —o— IN THE July 25 edition of The Mail-Journal, in the police blotter, at 2:41 a.m., on July 21, Louie’s Bar was reported to have been the scene of loud noises. Mrs. Losee at Louie’s Bar reported that the noise must have been in the vicinity because' the establishment was closed at midnight. The report as it appeared was taken from the Syracuse police blotter. Syracuse man arrested for no inspection Randy Duane Strieby, 28, r 3 Syracuse, was arrested on a county court warrant for the violation of a promise to appear on a charge of not having a vehicle inspection. He was released on SSOO bond Thursday, July 26. Milford man uninjured as’ cargoes in ditch Wayne E. Miller, 24, Milford, escaped injury Saturday evening when the car he was driving went into a deep ditch on SR 25, one mile southwest of Warsaw. County Patrolman Brant Nellans investigated and set damage at SIOO.

RIDING TO FLORIDA — A group of 30 bicycle riders and three accompanying cooks stopped over at the grounds of the Milford Junior High School Friday morning for breakfast, en route from Sault Saint Marie, Mich., to Key West, Florida. They spent the night at the Goshen First Church of God. The riders, ranging in age from 14 to 51 years, are riding under “trail boss” Jim Pickens, and do an easy 50 miles per day. Some days they manage to go over 100 miles, said Pickens. When they get to Key West they will dispense and fly to their respective homes. Most of them are Church of God members. , Kevon Ferguson and Jimmy Luellen rode their bicycles from the Denver area to Sault Saint Marie and will be accompanying the group to Anderson, Ind., from which point they will proceed on to their destination in Maine. This duo claims to have covered over 200 miles in a single day on their high-speed bicycles.

Schools open August 27
With the summer programs coming to an end in the Lakeland area thoughts are turning to the opening of school. The Lakeland schools will open on August 27 for teacher inservice days with students reporting on Wednesday, Aug. 29. The current edition of The Lakeland Reporter is off the press and will be mailed to every home in the school corporation by the end of the week. It should be in the hands of all area residents by the middle of next week. Persons not receiving a copy by then should contact the office of School Superintendent Don H. Arnold.

$ 2,100 damage in two-vehicle crash
Two cars collided at 2:35 Tuesday afternoon at the corner of Main and Catherine Streets in A Milford. No one was injured, but damage estimates total $2,100. Norene L. Stouder, 18, Syracuse, was traveling west on
■ft c Mi ■MMF ■fi i ft HOME DESTROYED — Milford firemen were called to the home of Ortie Manns, near the Graff Trailer Park off of SR 15 south of Milford, at 12 midnight Saturday, July 28, when the home caught fire. Fire Chief Bill Leemon stated no one was home at the time of the fire and the home was almost engulfed in flames when the department arrived. Firemen were on the scene for over two hours with 16 men and four pieces of equipment. Damages were listed at $20,000 to double-wide home and SB,OOO to the contents. Bob Fortner of the state fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire.

Catherine Street when her 1973 Ford struck a 1973 Plymouth driven by Sharon E. Rogers, 25, Goshen. Damage to the Stouder car is estimated to be S6OO and $1,500 damage to the Rogers car. Stouder staged she did not see the Rogers car and thought the intersection was a four-way stop.
