About 150 attended. Julie is the 19-year-old daughter of Lydia Garza of Milford and Arnold Garza of Syracuse. Attending the reception were people from Milford, Syracuse, North Webster, Goshen, Warsaw, Shipshewana, LaGrange, Kendallville and Union, Mich. A 1979 graduate of Wawasee High School. Julie will serve two years of active duty and two years in the reserves. She was sworn into the service on June 8 at Indianapolis, and will report to U.S. Army Headquarters at Indianapolis on August 6. On the seventh she will leave with others for Stillwater, Okla, where she will remain for four months for job training and boot camp. After boot camp she will transfer to Fort Hood, Texas, near Houston, for one year. Julie has been secretary for SPEDY, a government program to provide summer jobs for students, at Warsaw. ISU announces spring dean's list The Indiana State University Dean’s List for the 1979 spring semester contains the names of 1,165 students who achieved academic distinction and includes area students. Grades at ISU are computed on a 4.0 scale and honor students are those who earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The Distinguished Honor Roll lists students with grade point averages of 3.75 or above and the Honor Roll includes students with an average of 3.5 to 3.75.
