Women's department getting ready for fair

The women’s department at the Kosciusko County Fair is preparing for its biggest and best year yet. There will be something of interest for everyone — women, men, and children — with departments such as agriculture, clothing, canning, baking and canning, needlework, and house and garden flowers. Last year more than 2,000 entries were housed in the women’s building with many more anticipated for ’79. The women’s department is an open class for anyone interested. However, it is supervised by the Kosciusko County Extension

There have been changes in some departments this year. The clothing department categories have been revamped to fit today’s styles and techniques. A unique category includes accessories of all kinds — belts, purses, hats, scarfs, a diabetic baking section has been added to the baking department. And the house and garden flower exhibits have been reworked to include many of today’s popular household plants. Children ages five to nine are encouraged to participate this year. Each child making an entry will receive a participation ribbon in addition to the prize money for first, second, and third placings. Any resident of Kosciusko County can make an entry in the

Although the women’s department is an open class, the Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers compete for awards and prizes. Ten clubs will compete in the educational exhibits by entering displays depicting what they have learned from their educational lessons during the past year. Clubs will also compete for most entries and most prizes. A special feature of the women’s department is the demonstration corner. Demonstrations are presented Tuesday through Friday at 12 noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Demonstrations scheduled for this year: Tuesday, July 31 — Fun with Beef. Kosciusko County

Two motorcycles collide, damages total *4OO Richard E, Fancil, 35. 414 North Roosevelt, Warsaw, driving a 1978 Yamaha, was involved in an accident when John Holman, 44, 521 West Eagle, Warsaw, operating a 1977 Yamaha, struck the rear of Fancil’s motorcycle on Friday at 4:11p.m. The accident occurred at the intersection of SR 13 and Palm Drive, Syracuse. Fancil hadhis turn signal on to turn right, Holman was watching oncomirtg traffic and did not see the turn signal and struck Fancil in the\ rear throwing both drivers to the pavement.
