MERMAID FESTIVAL S.<WO METER Rl \ WINNERS — Winners of the first Mermaid Festival 5.000 meter run are shown here following the Saturday morning race which drew 115 entrants in all catagories. Runners competed under sunny skies, but the weather was cool. Meal for a race. Tim associated with the International Palace of Sports, was in charge of the race, which drew spectators all along the race route. Backwater friends install officers Dee Vanator. vice president, presided during the June 21 meeting of Backwater Friends Extension Homemakers Club. Nina Sutton served as assistant hostess. The meeting was held in the home of Esther Rider. Pledge to the American flag and the club creed were repeated in unison. Mrs. Howard Bemish. Jr. played the organ for group singing Roll call response was. ‘Where 1 would like to Spend My Summer Vacation.” Roll call was answered by 18 members. The lesson, “Coping With Depression" was presented by Mrs. Bemish and Nirs. Kenneth Moser.
