*35,000 damage to summer home engulfed in flames
Syracuse Fire Department was called to a two story house fire on Koher Drive, Papakeechie Lake, Thursday, June 14. The house, which sustained $35,000 damage, was occupied by seven persons, all escaped injury. Sue Gilland called the Syracuse Fire Department at 1:12 a.m. and reported the fire at the summer residence of George Burkley, 2830 Spring wood Court, Cincinnati, Ohio. Syracuse summoned Cromwell Fire Department for assistance and when the firemen arrived the occupants were out of the home and the building was engulfed in flames. The seven occupants were: Charles J. Noeth, 37, Steven R. O’Brien, 24. Donald Warren Hagerdorn, 20, Tammy Rose Farrell, 17 and Edward Taylor

June 14. at 8:28 a.m., the theft of a redwood planter and macrame hanger from her front porch during the night. She told the police the plant hung by her front door and the porchJight had been on all night

The fire was spotted when Locke went downstairs and observed a couch on fire and ran upstairs for water. When he returned the fire had spread out of control onto the walls and other furniture. The fire is believed to have started from a burning cigarette left on the couch. Kosciusko County Patrolman Tom Kitch responded to the scene after Syracuse Fire Chief Kenny Johnson requested an officer. Both men talked with the occupants at the scene before they were taken to the Syracuse Police Department for questioning. During the questioning, Noeth said he worked for Burklev Sales
Mediano « releases May reports Police Sgt. Louis Mediano has released the report of the Syracuse Police Department for the month of May. Officers answered 288 calls. 69 courtesy calls, made 10 title checks, assisted in 12 fire and ambulance calls and drove 4,050 miles. Accident reports included nine public. 18 vehicles and nine property damage for a total amount of $4,165 in damages. There was one personal injury involving two vehicles with $1,850 in damages. Syracuse officers assisted the county and state department 10 times. There were 12 complaints of theft with a loss of $212. Two missing persons complaints were made and 38 other miscellaneous complaints were reported. The department received 23 dog complaints and nine were impounded Traffic arrests totaled five and there were six arrests concerning misdemeanors and felonies. Officers gave five warnings.

Augsburger named to study committee
State Senator John B Augsburger i K-Milford' has been appointed to an interim study committee on Local and State Laws Pertaining to the Placement of Residential Manufactured Housing. Senator Martin K. Edwards. President Pro Temp of the Senate, announced the appointment on Monday, June 18: The study committee, which was created by the action of the legislative, will report its findings and make recom mendations to the 1980 legislature Augsburger said the lack of uniformity among local and state laws may lie detrimental to the Sunflower seeds are a good source of protein.
