County students receive degrees from Purdue
The 127th commencement exercises at Purdue University were held on May 12 and 13. Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 3,278 students while 260 students received associate degrees. In the 1 groups. 254 graduated “with distinction ” and 124 "with highest distinction". Students from Kosciusko county are as follows: Ruth E. Bursting through a door that looked like it led to the rest room she found herself in a small room and face to face with several store manikins wearing absolutely - nothing. After blurting a redfaced appolgy she beat a hasty retreat only to find herself on the other side of the door feeling totally foolish and being stared at by several very suspicious clerks.

Convention details given to Theta Sigmas Last minute details of the National Convention were presented during the June 12 meeting of Theta Sigma Chapter of Psi lota Xi Sorority. The group met in the home of Sally Gillem, president. She read the names for committee assignments for the 1979-80 year. It was announced that the geranium sale is over and Mary Jane Fuschetto is chairman of the Mermaid Festival project. Mrs Gillem and Marilynn Brower represented the iical chapter at the National Convention held June 14-17 at Kalamazoo. Mich., Mary Waltz and Betty Richcreek also attended. Kathy White and Jan Brindle attended the convention on June 16 to serve as table hostesses Peg Burns, National President of Psi lota Xi helped to organize the Theta Sigma Chapter five years ago. At her request all members of the local chapter in attendance at the convention served as hostesses on June 16. During the business session Mrs Brower was awarded a free dinner in recognition of her perfect attendance record during the 1978-79 season. It was noted that this is the group’s last meeting of the year The next meeting will be held the second Tuesday in September in the home of Mrs. Gillem Mary Waltz will be hostess for a family outing and picnic scheduled for Julv 14.
Becky Pritchard hostess for Chit Chats Becky Pritchard was hostess for the June 12 meeting of Chit Chat Extension Homemakers Club. Devotions were given by Doris Everson. She read a poem. Roll call response was, “My Vacation Plans." The lesson, “Home Protection " was presented by Mrs. Robert Paton. During the business session Mary Lou Whitehead gave a report of the homemaker's conference. It was announced that a rummage sale will be held June 15 and 16 in the women’s building. Warsaw. Father-son banquet held at church June 10
North Webster Church of the Brethren annual father-son banquet was held June 10 in the church social room There* were 35 present for the carry-jn salad and dessert supper. UP - Up - and away! Air mailof a different sort was sent soaring into the sky by children attending Vacation Bible School at North Webster United Methodist Church On the last day of Vacation Bible School plastic bags containing notes and post cards, to be returned if found, were attached to 100 helium-filled balloons and released So far seven post cards have been returned The balloon belonging to Kristy Ertel was found in a bean tield belonging to Mrs Harold Shock, six miles east of Syracuse Darin Wagoner’s card turned up in the Agusta Hill Golf course two miles west of Albion. It was returned by Thomas L Clouse Mrs. W C. Munk, who lives half-way between Kendallville and Albion, reported that she had found Tammy Geigers balloon Pythian chapter is draped in memory of member The charter was draped in memory of Virginia Spry during the June 10 meeting of North Webster Pythian Sisters. There were 17 members present. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Overman, from Florida were special guests. A group of Pythian Sisters from Syracuse also attended the meeting. It was noted that friendship night has been postponed with the exact date to be announced. Refreshments were served by Mary Alice Cremeens and Ethel Engie. The next meeting is scheduled for June 25.
