The amount raised was $1,049.24, the largest single contribution to the fund drive to send the team to Terre Haute. Dianne Elliott, special ed teacher at the Syracuse Junior High School, is shown receiving the check from Terry Moser. VFW commander. Burris is spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Burris in Goshen. Royce Fuller who is attending school at the Goshen college spent Sunday in Milford. Miss Lillian Cohen, a teacher in the South Bend schools was a guest of Miss Mildred Oppenheim a few days last week. James Lawburg took the following lady shoppers to Goshen on Friday, Mrs. Blackman, Mrs. Martha Weyburn, Mrs. Benjamin Slaybaugh and Mrs. John Postma.
Ross Dahlstrom named outstanding at Milford
Ross Dahlstrom, Milford eighth grader and son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dahlstrom of Milford, was named the outstanding student of the year at the Milford Junior High School last week. Dahlstrom was also one of 11 students to received a plaque in recognition of high scholarship. He was awarded a perfect attendance certificate, an athletic certificate and a president's physical fitness award. Dahlstrom received a trophy for football with the award being based on improvement of skills, leadership, cooperation and dedication to overall team efforts. Stidham, r 4 Syracuse, recently received his juris doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, San Diego. Calif. He is a Summa Cum Laude 1976 graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, and a 1972 honor graduate of Wawasee High School. Stidham will remain in California for the summer months for the bar review in preparation for the California Bar Exam in late July. He is the son of Mrs. Patricia Stidham, Syracuse and Lowell Stidham, Syracuse. Vandalism at Syracuse cemetery Vandalism at the Syracuse cemetery was reported by Mrs. Betty Dust, iNorth Street. Syracuse, on Wednesday. May 30. at3:l9p.m. One of the headstones of Mrs. Dust’s relatives had been vandalized. Other headstones in the cemetery had also been disturbed. Lee continues case of Syracuse man Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Gene B. Lee has continued the arraignment of William Eaves, 18, r 5 Syracuse. Eaves is charged with theft after he allegedly broke into the Oswego Laundromat on May 29. Judge Lee is allowing Eaves time to consult with a counsel of his choice. He will appear in court on June 13 at 9 a.m. HANEYS ENTERTAIN Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Haney, r 2 Milford, entertained many visitors this past weekend. On Saturday night their dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clark Heckaman and children of Bremen. On Sunday afternoon other visitors from Bremen were Mr. and Mrs. John Gushwa. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ellis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Andrews and daughter. Visitors from Milford included Mr. and Mrs. Larry Haney and daughters, Laura and Karen and Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Schmucker.
