David Wyant claims bride June 2 in Charleston, W. Va.
Besty Garner. Charleston. W Va., and David Lee Wyant. Indianapolis, were united in marriage on Saturday. June 2. at 7:30 pm in the Temple Israel. Charlston. W Va. Officiating at the double-ring ceremony was Rabbi Jay Heyman. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Garner. Charleston. W. Va., and Mi’s, and Mrs. Dan L. Wyant, Marion and Syracuse. marriage by her father Her veil was by Pricilla of Boston and the flowers were gardenias. The bride's sister. Alison Garner, was the maid of honor and wore a dress made of yellow chiffon and a headdress of fresh flowers Her flowers were a spring bouquet of daisies. The bridesmaids were Mrs. David Handey. sister of the bridegroom; Barrie Baer, cousin of the bride; Julie«Baer, cousin of the bride; Mrs. David Wright, cousin of the bride; Mrs. Thomas Kinkelaer; Pamela Gilbert; LeiglvSilverstein; Lynn Mendeloff . Karen Rotgrin; and Mary Anne Dial. Their dresses were of yellow chiffon with a headdress of fresh flowers and the bridesmaids carried daisies. The best man was James Daniel Wyant, brother of the* bridegroom. Groomsmen for the ceremony were Greg Wyant, brother of the bridegroom; Robert W. Garner, brother of the bride; David Hendey; Thomas Seeger; Ed Wiley; Michael Chagares; Nelson Henry; Richard Hunsinger; Karl Tauer; and David Ash. The reception was held in the ballroom of the Charleston House. After the wedding the couple will live in Indianapolis. Mrs Wyant is a 1974 graduate of George Washington High School. Charleston. She graduated from Miami University. Oxford. Ohio, in 1978. She taught the fifth grade at Roxlane Elementary Schoo! in Charleston. Her husband is entering his third year of Indiana School of Law in Indianapolis. He is a graduate of Marion High School and a 1977 graduate of Miami University. Oxford, Ohio.
'Queen of Lakes' entries begin to arrive in Webster
Entries for the 34th Annual "Queen of Lakes” Beauty .Pageant have begun to arrive in North Webster. Among those competing for the “Queen of Lakes" title and over $2,500 in scholarships, grants and awards will be Rachel Morris of Fort Wayne; Linda England. Pierceton; Lynn Vangundy. North Webster; and Michelle White. Syracuse. Rachel Morris", as “Miss Milford', 19, a sophomore of Purdue University in Fort Wayne, will be in the competition. She is being sponsored by the Milford Lions Club and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert P Morris, r 1 Milford. She has brown eyes and hair, is 5’3 tall and weighs 100 pounds Her hobbies are disco dancing, swimming, sewing and politics. Agatha Charlton honored by family The June 1 birthday of Agatha Charlton of near Milford was honored by members of her family. On Friday evening her granddaughter and family. Mr. and Mrs Tom Schnieder of Goshen, arrived at the house with the evening meal and a decorated birthday cake On Saturday all of her children and their spouses plus grandchildren and friends arrived to help her clean house. The wood work was polished, windows, curtains and bedding washed, grass mowed and bushes trimmed. Mrs. Charlton said, “They all worked like beavers" At noon they dined on the meal they had taken with them to the Charlton home. Among those in attendance were Mr and Mrs William Charlton and family of North Webster. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Charlton of Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Rual Elliott of Elkhart and Mr and Mrs. Jake Chupp and James and John Bradley of Goshen. Most returned on Sunday. When Mrs. Charlton arrived home from church the tables were decorated with bouquets and two large birthday cakes for a surprise party. In all 24 were in attendance for the noon meal. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Don Charlton of Milford and Mrs. John Charlton and son. Jason, of Goshen. BEAUTY. CONTESTANT — Linda Mae Fletcher, IX, Etna Green, is a contestant sponsored by the Junior 0.N.0., as “Miss Etna Green” in the “Queen of Lakes" Beauty Pageant at North Webster during the last week end of June. Miss Fletcher is a 1979 graduate of Triton High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fletcher, Etna Green. She has brown hair and eyes, is 5’4" tall and weighs 115 pounds. She enjoys swimming, water skiing. She belonged to the band, pep block and National Honor Society during school. She was also the class vice president at Triton High School. LAKELAND LOCAL Mr. and Mrs. Keith Funk and their three children, who moved to near Goshen several years ago. were given a farewell sing and refreshments at the Apostolic Christian Church fellowship hall, Milford, on Sunday evening, June 3. The Funks are returning to their farm near Roanoke. 111. Mrs. Funk is the former Kathleen Fischer. Mrs. Helen Funk is visiting her brother and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baumgartner at Rocky River, Ohio.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norm Druckamiller, North Webster, and a senior at Wawasee High School. Lynn is 5’4" tall, weighs 125 pounds, has light brown hair and green eyes. She enjoys her hobbies of tennis, water skiing and sewing. Michelle White, as "Miss Wawasee Booster Club”. 17. is sponsored by the Wawasee Booster Club. She is a senior at Wawasee High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles White of Syracuse, and was a finalist and member of the Queen's Court in last year's pageant. Michelle is 5’7", 103 pounds, has light brown hair and blue eyes. She enjoys volleyball, tennis and swimming. The pageant is open to any unmanned young lady between the ages of 16 and 26, inclusive as of July 1. They will compete in interviews, bathing suits and formals. The theme for this year's pageant is “The World of Disco.”
Dolls program for Seniors The Milford Senior Citizens met in the fire station on Sunday, June 3, for a carry-in dinner. The tables were decorated with iris, peonies and orange poppies. The program was given byTheresa Wyman, who runs the Doll Hospital and gift shop in Warsaw. She buys dolls which are in bad shape and fixes them like new She makes all their clothes. There were dolls on display which she had fixed and two which are not available anymore. She had fixed a cupie doll worth S4O an inch and explained that some dolls sell for as much assU,oooa piece. The next meeting will be on July 8. Tippy bridge winners named The Tippecanoe Lake CountryClub Ladies Bridge club met on Wednesday, May 30. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. George Ren, Mrs. Paul Penn and Mrs. Gordon Medlock. Winners were: Mrs. G. Pickering, Mrs. H. W. Phillips. Mrs. Roy Cox, Mrs. Parker Phend and Mrs. Lawrence Castaldi. Other winners were: Mrs. Florence Stalter. Mrs. David Stalnaker. Mrs. Charles Hughes and Mrs. James Weddle. Receives degree at Huntington College Maureen Evonn Jackson, daughter of Betty L. Witman. of Milford, received the secretarial science diploma in graduation exercises at Huntington College, May 26. Dr. J. Edward Roush, director of environmental protection agency’s office of intergovernmental and regional operations, delivered the 81st commencement address, “Will Miracles Never Cease?” to 135 graduates, and a large crowd of parents and friends. Huntington College, located in Huntington, Indiana, offers over thirty major fields of study. Its degree programs include the oneyear diploma in Secretarial Science, the two-year associate of arts degree, the bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees, and the master of Christian Ministry degree. Huntington is a Christian, liberal arts college, sponsored by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, and it encourages a lifestyle based on Christian principles and values. It welcomes students of all faiths, creeds, races and national origins.

The themes this year are the Monster Club fpr grade kindergarten and first grade and World Traveler for grades two, three, four and five. Children may enroll and begin reading for those stickers as soon as possible. Just one sticker at the end of the program means a ribbon earned and ten or more stickers and the child will receive a reading certificate and a ribbon. Children are urged to begin reading immediately to have plenty of time to earn the awards. New books in the children's room continue to arrive. Bashor Auxiliary to have picnic The annual meeting of the Bashor Home Auxiliary will be on Monday, June 11, at 11 a.m., in the Arbogast Center, Bashor Home, Goshen. The business meeting will be followed by a picnic for the boys. Members are asked to take wellfilled baskets. The ladies of the Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church will furnish coffee.

MARRIED 65 \ EARS— Mr, and Mrs. Calvin E. Beck, well known Syracuse residents who make their home on the east shores of Jionar Lake, will observe their 65th wedding anniversary with a quiet family dinner at a local resident on Sunday. June 24. They were married in the home of Rev. A. E. Gaff at Albion on June 13, 1914. Mrs. Beck was the former Izel Whitehead. Mr. Beck taught school and coached basketball for 3X years and was trustee of Turkey Creek tow nship for two terms, from 1950 to 195 X. The Becks have three sons: Charles, a resident of r 2 (Lake Wawasee) Syracuse; Richard of Pompano Beach, Fla., where he teaches school; and Wendell, a sales representative who resides at Avilla. They also have four grandchildren.

Members of the Silver Thimble Club of the Milford Apostolic Christian Church met at Smith s Flower and Gift Shop in Milford on Monday evening. June 4. Mrs Ron (Connie) Smith made a flower arrangement, later won by Mrs Alvin Haab. The remainder of the evening was spent in the home of Mrs. Richard Bender on r 2 Milford. Terri Custer honored after commencement Terri Custer, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Raymond Custer, r 1 Milford, was honored with an open house and buffet luncheon for 100 guests following commencement exercises at Warsaw Community High School.
